I have been at this now all day, and I have tried everything I can think of. There is no application to change the keymap that I can find. Using Synaptic I downloaded and "installed" one called Keymapper. Althought Synaptic claimed that it was installed, Keymapper does not appear in any menu, and is not recognized in the terminal.

All "special" characters (e.g. !"#¤%&/=?+`´-_*^¨~ etc.) are under different keys on a Swedish keyboard than they are under the default US keymap. This made the installation process unnecessarily difficult (try to pay with PayPal when you can't provide your email address [since you can't find the @ sign key] and can't provide your password [since you can't find any "special" characters]).

If I may make a suggestion, I would suggest that the installer would allow the user to choose keyboard layout as the very first step of the installation process. Not everybody lives in the US.

I just imploded by Bodhi install by trying to get the AMD graphics driver working, so I'd rather have this version of elive. Also, networking, which configured fine during install, disappeared on me after one of my reboots. The eth0 device was no longer reported by ifconfig, only the loopback device.

From what I could tell, the install, configuration, and fine tuning of Elive went off without any problems.

I'm trying to run Elive on a 4yr old iMac with Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce graphics 8800GS and a Marvell Yukon Gigabit adapter. The Nvidia and Marvell devices configured fine during install and worked great right out of the box.

How do I manage to span a wide wallpaper across 2 monitors in Elive??

The graphics card is an nvidia and has two monitors attached both the same with both a resolution of 1280x1024.

Unfortunately, the forum appears to be all but abandoned. I downloaded and installed Zeitgeist. The repositories don't work, so I can't add software, or update anything. Searching the forums gives me a couple alternative repository addresses, that don't work either. Zeitgeist is dead.

The IRC channel is dead. Oh, it's still there, but in two days time, I saw two people log in, ask a question, get no reply, and they disappeared again.

The posts inquiring about the paid version of Topaz seem to get little if any response. All meaningful posts are more than a year old, it looks.

I guess Elive has died.

I recently gave the zeitgeist version of elive since its free to install

When entering Synaptic and attempting to refresh the repo cache to recieve updates it fails to recieve any information from the following URLs

us.repository.elive-systems.com and us.debian.elive-systems.com

and when trying the Europe URL'S menchoned in the sticky i recieve

E: Malformed line 10 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (URI parse)

Once editing the sources.list, i stopped recieving that error. then tried refreshing the repository and again failed on every attempt, it just wont recieve the repositorys

I can't seem to get any sound out of the headphone jack. I read through some posts and checked to see that the alsamixer was fine. I also tried changing devices in volume control. I still cannot get any audio.

I read somewhere in some wiki that someone got a lenovo hack to get the audio working. Does anyone know what that is?

Or can anyone suggest something else?

Every time I try to install a Debian package, something is missing. Example: I'm trying to install the google-chrome-stable package. The package installer says "Error: dependency is not satisfiable: libasound2". Ok: i download libasound2 and try to install it. And what does the package installer says? "Same version is already installed"!!!
