How to convert pdf to word or PPT? (3 replies)

I've bought a pdf format ebook and would like to quote some sections to make a word or PPT presentation for my teaching class, buy somehow I can only copy text but not the charts and photos which are the most important things. So how can I convert the pdf ebook to word or PPT document without changing the original layouts? Can Adobe do that? Or any other software?

t wanna delete any single song, how can i backup them to my computer? They said I

can copy the songs to anywhere on pc but that didn’t work at all, when ipod was

pluged in there was no music(only some pictures) shown on the computer! I know

there must be one solution, anyone know how ?

I'm writting my paper and need to extract some paragraph out of pdf materials, but the pdf can not be copied, so I need to tranfer them to word so that I can use them freely. Any idea to do that? Do I have to use a software or any tools?

I am trying to install Android x86* on Intel Atom board N450. I created a live usb of the android os but when i restart the system it doesn't recognise the bootloader. It has fedora pre-installed in it. I am unable to install android OS. Please help me out. the specifications are:
Kernel Linux 2.6.29-10
GNOME 2.26.2
Memory 487.6 MiB
Processor @1 Ghz

Hello. I own some games that are scratched and some sections of the game work but most of them do not. I want to install the games to my hard drive and play them, because the discs are readable, but the discs are too scratched to install the whole game. Is there a way for me to install the game through an outside source, like my computer or a flash drive, so that I can play the games with my discs?

Ok so ive been i have been interested in using Elive for quite some time now but i have a few questions/concerns to ask before i make the plunge and purchase elive.

1) First and foremost, is Elive and the further devlopment of this dristro dead?? ive not seen any updates done to elive in probably about 2 years (correct me if im wrong) and this worries me quite a bit.

2) I do NOT in any way agree with having to pay for linux, doing so goes against everything that it stands for as a platform (i understand that the developer put alot of time and effort into this but nevertheless it still goes against it) BUT because i do love elive so much i suppose im willing to part with my frustration on this and purchase. my question is, If i purchase elive is my purchase only good for one install and if i have to reinstall am i going to need to purchase elive all over again??.

I am not sure if i put this in the right topic, if not please feel free to move it and any info that could be given will be much appreciated, thank you.

Have you tried to used xrand?
In my case it was laptop with external LCD monitor throu DVI connector.

I use elive several years ago and i fell in love with the desktop so now i'm using ubuntu and i installed elightment on it

The only problem is that i don't know how connect to internet. I have a ZTE MF626 device but i can't find any option on the elightment desktop such as a network manager or something like that to connect to the internet. I was expecting you guys can help me.

I visit several forums each day, and a feature that helps with this is the "New Posts" feature that displays a list of posts since my last visit. I don't see that function here; is there a way to do this?

I have a double interest in this, because I just created a new board (collection of forums) with Phorum, since I liked what I saw here and its simplicity of administration (I'm a veteran of phpBB which is monstrous).

hi guys! i'm about to install elive compiz version. first of all i apologize if my english is not that perfect but i'm from italy :)
i'm posting in this section cos i don't know if there's a better place. well, i'm an ubuntu user and one of the things i'd like to know about elive is what kind of differences i'm gonna find on this distro. i know elive is based on debian and that's a good thing considering that ubuntu is based on debian too. i used e17 before cos i've installed it on ubuntu intrepid.
to make suspend to ram work usually on ubuntu i need to make changes to xorg and other files. the last command i run is:

gconftool --set /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/sync_to_vblank 0 --type bool

(if i have compiz working)

as i tried to do that on opengeu with e17 and ecomorph and it gives me back this error:

gconftool is not installed. it can be installed by typing sudo apt-get install gconf2

(checking out synaptic it is installed, while trying to install through the shell it doesn't find it)

i'd like to know if i can do that on elive.

I recently switch from ubuntu to elive and in ubuntu i was using the repository [mirror.files.bigpond.com] seeing as though i am a bigpond customer and therefore getting unmetered downloads, so my question is is there some way to make elive download from these repository without mucking anything up or something?

Its screen no. 4 of Applications [www.elivecd.org] which seems to show some kind of synthesizer software. now i was wondering what software this was.

Just wanted to let everyone know there is a good section of an article in the October 2008 issue of Linux Journal on Elive. The main article is on Enlightenment but it mentions a few of the main distros using Enlightenment as the default DE. The section on Elive goes on to say that the only issue the author had with Elive is that E17 is still in beta. Other than that Elive is well on the way to an amazing Enlightenment distro. Check it out if you can.

So I'm still a little bit of a noob when it comes to Linux but I can learn fast. I have been using Ubuntu but I'm getting tired of everything being programmed in a way that making some changes kill the system. Let alone no matter what I do it won't use the correct driver for my video card. So here is my question.

I have a Dell XPS 1330. I use the HDMI output for a second monitor because no matter how many motherboards Dell gives me the VGA causes issues with external monitors and flickering. Ubuntu is unable to properly display on it. I like the Enlightenment WM and have been looking for a distro that specifically uses it as their default WM. Besides Elive all the other distros appear to be Ubuntu derivatives. Does any know if Elive will detect the HDMI port and properly display on it either as a second monitor or primary monitor. My laptop has the Intel X3100 integrated graphics card.

After MUCH research and time spent trying to get myself a free laptop I have FINALLY found a legit way to get one. This is the only site i have found that works and that does NOT require any credit card or any money at all. This has been proven to work by G4 and CNN. I will walk you through this step by step. I have a friend who did this and showed me how it all works i have seen his laptop and the proof and it couldnt be easier... here are the steps.

1. Go to the site.. [laptops.freepay.com]

2. Create an account.. takes two mins

3. Complete ONE offer.. i suggest the ringtone.com one no credit card or money required... all you do is give them your number they text you that your signed up then after just a bit (only took me a couple hours but it may be a day or so) you will recieve credit for the completion. then you text back "STOP" and you will be removed from their services and no charge to you plus then you get the credit for completing the offer.. you get the credit for doing NOTHING.

4. Refer a few friends to do the same.

5. Once the offers are completed you will recieve an email that confirms your shipping address.

6. Wait for your laptop to arrive.. my friends only took a little over a week so this site doesnt make you wait 2 months like every other site.. couldnt be easier.
