September 27, 2008 01:58AM
Hello,
I just installed Elive.
This the first time that i use linux and first time with elive. So that means first time i tried something another then windows.

I want to change resolution to 1680x1050 but there is list to change up to 1024. How to expand that list?
Thanks
I click left click>configuration>configuration panel>Screen/Display Settings

Kind regards.

Hello,
Login as root [#su]
then type xconfigurator

I am not sure how to get the resolution to stay at next reboot though. Maybe an x guru could chip in here...
Resolución en Via
November 26, 2008 02:40AM

I installed the Elive 1.9.16, and I can set the display to 1024x768.
With Elive 1 (stable), did not have that problem.
My video card is the VIA km400 chips, and my monitor is generic.
The same problem happens with the latest versions of Ubuntu.
I tried to set it from the panel of Elive, where he tells me to restart. But nothing happens.
In addition tried to set the Elightnment, but only lets you select 800x640, and often 60 and 54hz.
It's a very nice system, but with so little resolution, I was very heavy work, plus taking into account that almost all the applications are ready for more resolution.
I think it has to do with an error in the frequency of your monitor.
If anyone knows how to fix it, I would be very grateful.

this one resets/creates new x config:
cd /etc/X11/
Xorg -configure

if you have nvidia card
apt-get install nvidia-settings
and use it to configure or install via synaptic, make sure your monitor is capable ;

or setup at /etc/X11/xorg.conf
example here [forum.elivecd.org] you will notice resolutions at config example
