I am using 1.9.22 with Compiz running and WOW!!!
Best running and looking Compiz out of the box.
Minimize a window and it folds into a paper airplane, and flies into the pager. highlight the date module and the calender spins into place, now that's cool!! Plus all the other effects that you come to expect from compiz.
The only problem is the drop shadows of windows can been seen on other desktops in empty windows. Will play with drop shadow settings in the look section of settings.

Well jimslinux , drop shadows can be adjusted from Emerald settings manager.
