Macbook backup

Hi there!

Tomorrow I am going to fetch my Macbook :D
and I would like to know a couple of thinks.

1) Is "Partimage" included in Elive?

The package list should be at:

but lamentably the link seems to be broken.

2) I would like to backup the contents of
the Macbook before installing anything (including the OS X itself). I mean, that
I want to run partimage on the
disc as my very first step, in my first boot. Is this possible?

How can I boot directly from the DVD unit?
Pressing the "alt (option)" at startup would work?

I am sorry, my question probably is a bit off-topic, but I do not know where to
ask. As far as I know Elive is the only
live-CD able to boot in a Macbook.

Thank you!

Hello !

I don't know if partimage is natively included (and I don't want to test wink in Elive but it is included in Debian packages so you can apt-get it in live mode and backup your OS X partition.

To boot with DVD drive you have to press "c" key at bootup or if you have rEFIt installed (remember it's fully recommanded) the CD will appear as choice to boot from.

You can olso use "alt" key to access Apple efi firmware boot options.

Hi! Thank you for your answer.

As a matter of fact, partimage does not
support "hfs+", so I used "dd_rescue"
