This isn't specific to any brand or model of laptop, it can occur on most of them.
you need to go through the udev scripts and find the one for the display.
it is setting the display gamma to about 65%
that needs to be edited to be 90% or 100% to have it not dim the display beyond usability.

or, get used to waiting until the display dims, and using the Fn key and display brightness combination, boots it back to a readable level.
