Screen dim dv6768se

I've been installing each new development release on my HP Pavilion dv6768se laptop and have enjoyed watching my favorite linux get better and better. I do have an issue, though, that's more of an annoyance than a critical problem.

Any time I start the OS or restore from suspend, the screen dims itself. It happens whether it's running on battery or plugged in. I suspect it's a power setting but I don't know enough to figure it out.

Any ideas or nudges in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

This isn't specific to any brand or model of laptop, it can occur on most of them.

you need to go through the udev scripts and find the one for the display.
it is setting the display gamma to about 65%
that needs to be edited to be 90% or 100% to have it not dim the display beyond usability.
[ which every distro does on my Acer laptop. ]

or, get used to waiting until the display dims, and using the Fn key and display brightness combination, boots it back to a readable level.
