Thank you! :-) 1.9.52 on Compaq Evo P-IV

This's really nice. It's a Compaq Evo loaded to the gills, but it's had a lot of trouble with X Window lately (neither Debian's stable or testing grok the video correctly, and I can find no way to correct it there). Only Knoppix' and ELive's X work on it. "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" has no effect. Classic "Debian Gotcha". ELive's X is lovely.

Thanks for helping me fix my broken system! :-) I assumed either my vid card or monitor were dieing.

The ELive installer worked reasonably well (/etc is not one of the ptn options?!?); I figured it out. Nice system, pretty much everything works, and I'm looking forward to playing with it.

I don't agree with the installer's opinion of ext2. Servers need journaling, not user boxes. On a personal box, ext2 is the way to go. The others are too fat, and unnecessary. Why anyone would choose reiser* in this day and age, I cannot imagine.

Thanks very much. Cool system.

"Thanks, very much. Cool system. "

Hi. Replying to my own post, I stand by what I said above.

Did I pay for ELive? I want to. How do I find out?

I've just booted -new-kernel on the above, and it appears to work swimmingly (well, not my serial mouse, but that's xorg; I know how to fix).

Did I pay? Thanks mon.
