What kinda applets or modules are you guys using for displaying the time, cpu usage, memory, etc? I've installed gdesklets but they aren't working out for me...

That's gkrellm2(with the invisible theme and lots of plugins).You can install all of them from synaptics.
But I'm using conky too,near to it.
Here's another update,with more plugins,aclock to the top and flag to the bottom:

I'm thinking to make some new changes in the .conkyrc/conkyconfig file again too.
I get bored very easily with a same look of the desktop everyday.

well, gkrellm looks great, conky seems to be too much invasive
think gkrellm is enought ( like desktop rather clean ;-) )

Yes,you can just say that gkrellm was made for elive;anyway conky is very hard to implement in elive,to much incompatible with elive's desktop and e17.You need to make many changes in /etc/conky/conkyconfig.I saw conky runing much better in OpenGEU,maybe because it's based on Ubuntu.
In my Ubuntu 9.10 beta conky works great,in gnome and fluxbox too.

You were right,I had to get rid of conky,it became very buggy in 1.9.51 version.Only the gkrellm still works perfectly in Elive.

The only thing I can't reach is gkrellm transparent
I installed ecomorph and I run enlightenment-ecomorph; consolles are transparent
but gkrellm still not trasparent ( tried many gkrellm themes which claims to be transparent
but none still is on my desktop )

apt-get install gsetroot

,then run in the terminal

gsetroot

,open the images directory,choose your background wallpaper,open>apply.
That's the only way to have the full transparency in the buggy beta forever E17.
If you want your terminal(URxvt) full transparent too,go in your hidden .Xdefault file from your ~/home and add this line too:

URxvt.transparent: true

.
BTW,install all the gkrellm's plugins you like from synaptic also.
You can find other gkrellm2 plugins here.Some of them can be installed by compilations,most of them in Ubuntu;in Elive I could install only the GKrellAclock plugin.

big problem, now its all black behind, no gkrellm transparence but all black the
gkrellm-invisible-theme

Are you sure you chose the right wallpaper with gsetroot(the GUI for esetroot)?Pay attention to the gsetroot's settings from the bottom where you can choose how to be set the chosen wallpaper:center,fullscreen,etc.
All the gsetroot's settings disappear at every logout,reboot or shutdown.

but, if, at any reboot it change back is there a gsetroot command-line
parameter to put in .elxstrt and load it at login ?

Can you post the exact line written in .elxstrt file,as an example?
Mine gives me a bug in .elxstrt:".elxstrt stopped running unexpectedly",without a log message.

Try to execute the command from a command shell ( from your user, not root )
and just after the login. So you should see if any error occour.


Just a question. Did you put the command at the end of the file ?
Because you have to put at the end, after what it is already written inside

check why the system gives you " syntax error "

Of course I have Esetroot on the system but it might be a bug.
