Wine is so screwed up on elive. I can never install anything. This never happened on mandriva- especially using playonlinux i was able to install office 2007 perfectly fine. But here the installation always gets an error...Whats wrong?

Use OO instead of MSOffice. And you can easely upgrade Wine to newest version. It is a lot howtos in internet. But Elive (Debian lenny) is not responding for that ms shit.

[forum.elivecd.org] - Take a look here.

Asus EeePC 1000H [Elive 2.0 Topaz]
Toshiba Satellite p10-802 -ATI video, ATI chipset, RealTech audio- [Elive 2.0 Topaz]
I hate ATI... but I love Elive. It work with ATI with no problem.

I have MS Office 2003 running in wine with no issue so far... I have not been able to get 2007 to run in wine at this time...

Install a newer (beta) version of Wine. The "stable" (1.0.1) doesn't run much of anything that is very useful... Or install Crossover. I use it just fine with Office 07.

Personally I do prefer OOO but some people have to have Office 07, for instance this trimester I am taking a class at school that requires M$ Office (the power point files do not translate properly into OOO)

Hi,
I think that if you add the playonlinux repo it can maybe manage your wine version and/or compatibility no?

Ciao
