ATI graphics problem

I'm a AMD ,ATI user ,so when it comes to multi media and sheer performance it is what I use.I really Like E-live topaz alot and don't want to pay for an envidia card just for a dual boot system. What is being done for us AMD(ATI) users? I see options for ATI drivers but none work. I have a Radeon HD 4650 1GB GDDR2 card. I don't want to install this awesome OS on a substandard machine.

thanxs, danno

sadly the people to blame for this are ATI. They have been very lazy when it comes to supporting linux which is why most distros use non-official ati drivers.

I had the same problem as you with my hd3xxx series ati card and decided I like enlightenment, elive and ecomorph more than the 10plus years I had been using ATI cards. sold the ati card and bought the nvidia geforce 8800gt on ebay with a plan to upgrade when the newer cards are cheap enough

The more People reject buying hardware sold without proper GNU/Linux Drivers, the quicker the Manufacturers will understand GNU/Linux is not Freakware anymore!
