Graphic defects on desktop
September 04, 2009 10:07PM
Since upgrade to 1.9.42 I have on my desktop a black or a warped but unreadable mask for input root password e.g. for system setting software.

I can write the password blind and than the program starts normal.

My laptop Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1630 has a ATI 9600 mobility graphic card with installed radeon driver.

What can I to solve the problem.

Thanks for help.

After software updating today the problem above is solved but another is generated:

The screen after login appears normally, I see the complete desk with all shelfs and dock, but than it gets a black band (appr. 40% of the screen) on the bottom. In this area nothing is visible but the dock. But with the cursor I can select invisible shelfs and program window edges.

What happend?

Hi Evilly , just a idea.
Why not install the version 1.9.43 , after from Synaptic(reload) install package "e17ecomorph" , restart session and select in Entrance "E17ecomorph".
Works for me pretty well.

Some new words to my last answer.

It works now fine but sometimes xserver stopps. I only can restart X with Strg-Alt-Backspace. I don't know the reasons for this phenomena.

And Iceweasel cannot play 2Tube videos now. But flashplugin-nonfree is installed.

Can anybody help?

In case of X-stopp I think it is an Iceweasel problem. When X stopps the mouse cursor is visible and moveable.

After a new login and start of Iceweasel ist asks for new or restore session.

When I close an Iceweasel window and want to try to start it again than I have the phenomena described above.

Firefox runs correct.

OK but now I want to edit the bar and application menu.

Does anybody know a Firefox 3.5 repository for Elive or Debian Lenny?

I found another link for managing E17 menus, available on [www.ghacks.net].

This is in English.

Today I wanted to reinstall ecomorph.

So I deinstalled ecomorph at first.
Next step was installing ecomorph. But I found it not in the synaptic package list.
I tried to install e17-compiz. Also e17-compiz was not installable. In synaptic I got the error meassage
'e17-compiz depends on: ecomorph-17 but ist not installable'

What can I do?

Go online with xchat to #elive channel, but try this first as root: apt-cache search ecomorph and see if you can use apt-get install right after.

Hi she_died,

until now i've never worked with xchat, so I did a system upgrade via installation cd.

Now the system runs without problems.

I get only a message that emodule eco/linux-gnu-i686-ver-pre-svn-04/module.so is not found in emodule directories. The system asks if I shell put off it or not.

I tried this using the method discribed above but with version 1.9.44 and after having an initial problem mounting dvd/cd and having to delete and recreate my user account everything works but I also get the
message that emodule eco/linux-gnu-i686-ver-pre-svn-04/module.so is not found.

The first time this happened I selected yes for the module not to be loaded and all hell broke loose. Ecomorph stopped working properly, the wobbly windows thing had a ghosting issue, and the system menu became very very slow to open. And I suspect this is why I some how could not mount anything.

Is there a way to stop this error message coming up without unloading the module?
