Recovering Windows
September 18, 2007 01:10AM
Hi, I went into gparted and somehow marked the Windows partition as Linux swap. It can't have re-formatted it, because it did it instantaneously. However I can no longer boot to my hard drive! Is there any way I can recover Windows? Its not a big deal, got everything backed up, I just wanna know)

You should start by booting in live-cd mode and starting gparted. Then check the partition table. If the fileformat for you supposed to be windows partiton is swap I would say it is done for.

Yeah, I haven't installed Elive yet, I'm still using the cd mode, and it definitely says swap. Is there no way to mark that partition back into NTFS, using the same process as how I turned it into Linux swap in the first place? What exactly happens when gparted marks it as Linux swap? Cause it didnt really format it, it just stuck "Linux-swap" on it.
