CPU frequency scaling doesn't work
January 21, 2008 12:09AM
Hi guys, I have a Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and frequency scaling with Elive GEM doesn't work. Running:
#cpufreq-info I get:

# cpufreq-info
cpufrequtils 002: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2006
Report errors and bugs to linux@brodo.de, please.
analyzing CPU 0:
no or unknown cpufreq driver is active on this CPU
analyzing CPU 1:
no or unknown cpufreq driver is active on this CPU

So which module should I load and how to make it load permanately with each boot?

Hi,

You must load this modules : acpi-cpufreq and cpufreq_ondemand.

And add their to the /etc/modules file to load it permanately on boot.

Hello archwndas,
I experienced also a cpu frequency scaling problem in Elive Gem.

On mij thinkpadT23 (no dual core) I
did in root mode (terminal -> su -> root password): modprobe acpi-cpufreq

Then I deinstalled the cpufreqd package with synaptic and installed the powernowd.

The last thing I did was adding the next line (also in root mode) to the file /etc/modules:
acpi-cpufreq

Then I did a reboot and frequency scaling was working correct. clap

I hope this works alsofor you.

regards,

Anton

Thank you very very very much. I will try it soon. But I am mostly interested in fixing the nvidia drivers. Could you please answer to my other post if you know how?

Best,
Drosos.
