Does Elive Gem 1.0 support up to 8Gb of RAM ?

And The compiz version ?

No, it does not. :D
32bit-OS only supports up to 4GB.
In Case you really need 8GB RAM you will have to switch to a 64bit OS.
But I wonder what you need 8GB RAM for?

No "normal" User these days needs 8GB RAM. That's A LOT! Even on 64bit-OS!

I was running Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 - 64bit, with 3 databases and 1 eBusiness Suite installation for which the requirement was 8Gb of Ram. I switched this setup now to a 16Gb PC, and already have the 8Gb RAM installed on my old one, and would like an O/S which supports the full amount of RAM, although I agree that I won't use 8Gb by running normal desktop applications

I should say that Elive is not a server.
It is a very nice Desktop or Laptop (home,work) Distro.

Not really needed to use 64 bits OS, you can simply use a special kernel with highmem, you can compile it yourself for Gem, in the next stable version of Elive i would like to include a special ISO for more than 4GB of ram emosmile
