It is odd that the grub has to be edited with the new version. You are not the only one who has had this problem, there is another person who had the problem and was shown how to fix it on this forum.

Unfortunately it seems T as written the validation code to be like M$ and their Windows. Basically, you have to get a key for every computer you install e2 on. So if you got the key for your laptop, and want to install on your desktop you have to pay for a new key for the desktop.
It makes sense but at the same time, it will and has been annoying a lot of people. It may have been better to just give one key per email address and use that as part of the validation process.
I have decided to stick with 1.9.60 for the time being because of these sorts of teething problems and probably will not upgrade till June or Even September.
