I am aware that Linux is much more secure than Windows but do we still need to install Firewall, Anti-virus and Spy-ware apps ?

Please advise.

No emosmile

A firewall is included in Linux kernel, and virus & spy do not exist under Linux. clap
(It is simplified, but it is that)

Don't worry wih that !

clam av (antivirus) and firehol (firewall) are available.

There are not (nearly) as many viruses for Linux as Windows - but they do exist. I'm not sure if they are even 'in the wild' now.

How secure is any system?

For example I launch a peer to peer program as root wich ask me to make some directory's automaticaly shared.

Question how secure is my system after that?

It isn't.

It's all up to you, isn't it?
