I have installed Elive - Compiz version on to my dsktop that has a legacy NVIDIA Geforce 4 Ti graphics card installed. after installing the GCC packages & linux-header files I was able to download & run the script directly from NVIDIA & installed the drive & enabled 3d acceleration.
Now the menues are working fime but when any application is opened it opens but just a white screen.
any sugestions?

Ok, I resolved my own issue.
I had to edit the xorg.conf file in the /etc/X11 directory.
after reseaching NVIDIA Compiz Issues I found that I has to add this comment: Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
to the Device section of the Xorg.conf file.
Also needed to confirm that the screen section was set to DefaultDepth 24. Now it works perfectly.

(SOLVED!) Ecomorph autostart? /Compiz-nvid
May 16, 2010 11:58PM
Hello, good morning to everyone. I have installed Elive 2.0 on my hd and I love it. My PC is fairly new, a Core2Duo/4GB ram/9600GT. The distribution runs very fast, takes 30 seconds to boot. My queries are:

Elive takes me only 3GB of RAM, there is any way that I take the full memory?
Download I install compiz from the repositories, enable the module echomorph, and works perfectly, no unstable. The problem is that every time I reboot, I have to reload manually. Is there any way to load automatically?

From already thank you very much,

Franco.

Nvidia driver is installed but no ecomorph effects

I have a Dell Inspiron with a Nvidia GeForce 8400GS that appears to be working properly. Glxgears works fine and I was able to play foobillard which is a 3d game but I don't see any compiz like effects. I have loaded ecomorph and it warns me about experimental features that could crash etc (don't remember the exact words). Is there something else I need to install?

Seems to be a lot of unanswered posts on this forum. This is the 2nd time I've paid money for this distro and had problems. If they think it's good enough to sell, you would think they would have some version of support other than unanswered forums

Load the ecomorph module from settings>modules.

you need to install ecomorph if for some reason it isn't automatically installed when you installed Elive.
You then need to

left click > Settings > modules and load ecomorph.

then next time you left click >settings ecomorph should be loaded and you can open its config window up and configure it to your hearts content.
