Virtual Screen resolution
July 29, 2010 07:16AM

I have installed elive on a notebook IBM Thinkpad R50e with max. resolution of 1024x768.
Now I have a program that needs at least 1280x1024 resolution.

Is it possible to set a higher resolution than 1024x768 e.g. by defining a virtual resolution 1280x1024? If possible, where do I have to define this ?

Regards Torsten

Sounds quite impossible. In Case your Grafix-cards maximum resolution is 1024x768 you wont be able using anything above that. Its a Hardware Limitation which cant be solved by software.

They go into the "Screen" section like this, subsection Display:

Subsection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "1366x768" "1440x900" "1280x800"
Virtual 2880 900
# Virtual 2466 900

In the above I had two monitors of different sizes, but you get the idea. Move the mouse further and before the cube will spin (on ecomorph) it will show you first the extra region. I got used to it, especially when the 2nd monitor burnt out with age.
