I can't find the icon of gaim after I start it. That means I have to keep the gaim main windows open.
But Where is the tray?

If you use the engage module, you not only get a system tray, but a great application launcher/switcher.

Its still in development, but works really well and can be found in the elive repository.

In the new version of e17 you have taskbar module, but you need to download it via apt-get...

Which version are you running?
I have cvs20060518, which synaptic says is the latest version? Engage works great for me.

Are you using elive? It seems Engage is only compatible with the Elive libraries. I know because I tried to install it on the E17 desktop of my Ubuntu distro, and it didn't work.

I'm using Elive with test repositories :P

And Engage work, but not engage-module.

Bugger!

We can only hope that they will all be working together with the next release.

Asus EeePC 1000H [Elive 2.0 Topaz]
Toshiba Satellite p10-802 -ATI video, ATI chipset, RealTech audio- [Elive 2.0 Topaz]
I hate ATI... but I love Elive. It work with ATI with no problem.

The system tray was okay with the unstable releases up to 1.9.56. The sticky notes were there, and you could notice that it was not fully transparent, because there was a white edge around the icon.

With Topaz release, the bluetooth and power icons being together, seem to have made it worse.
That should be addressed and make sure it gets good transparency.
