...19 Months... Say, thanks for the tip about using dd to create the USB, some of us were stuck using imagwriter. Looking forward to trying out the latest beta.by down8ve - Announcements of Newest Features
I purchased Topaz some time ago, but I wonder if I can install 2.1.25. I know there is an installer app included, but it is set to recognize the live session as an installed session. I just imploded by Bodhi install by trying to get the AMD graphics driver working, so I'd rather have this version of elive. Topaz does not work with my APU system. u_too hates it, too. 2.1.25 works reallby down8ve - [OLD] - Installed Mode
One primary advantage Elive has over Bodhi is the more robust set of applications. While I can appreciate Bodhi's approach, in real life it can be a time-consuming and frustrating experience downloading the high-end apps I enjoy. My system is at best a mid-grade machine, but I want its resources devoted to the apps rather than the window manager. Although I am using another OS at the moby down8ve - Other Suggestions
I may go ahead and install the alpha of Elive, it's that good. Great software selection, fast, and very pretty. I'd like to know how to get kde applications to look right... must be a GTK panel setting somewhere. Anyone look over the software available in the repos? Looks very updated to me.by down8ve - Good Experiencies
As I stated in the "Live Mode" subforum, great job!by down8ve - Announcements of Newest Features
2.1.23 Alpha is looking great. I had some sound-related issues that were cleared up by the audio configurator, the only remaining one was getting my USB videocam's microphone to function during the test call on Skype. If I would have spent more time I think I could have resolved it. Kdenlive was installed via Synaptic as I ran Elive from a USB key (just to see) and worked with my connecby down8ve - [OLD] - Live mode

Two months... ... and looking forward to the Alpha...by down8ve - Announcements of Newest Features
Never mind, I found my installer file! Well, here I am again after a few years. I had a paid registration code for Elive Topaz, but it is long, long gone. Is there any way for the deleoper of Elive to find that code for me again? Sorry to cause so much trouble. After trying so many distros I have to say, Elive was my favorite and I'd like to try it once again.by down8ve - [OLD] - Installed Mode
8 months. I say we declare this thing dead, as there are lots of great options out there now.by down8ve - Announcements of Newest Features
I suppose they are waiting on the next Debian to be released before going ahead. I've looked over the recent E distros, pretty much all I can find, and none have the common-sense that Elive had. My hope is that there is more news after Debian arrives.by down8ve - Announcements of Newest Features

I hope you are right. I really like the way my old machine works with e17. I mac pup this this morning, worked really well save for the weird package manager. It also has OpenShot, a real handy thing to include, and access to the additional repos. Perhaps it will prove to be to my liking.by down8ve - Announcements of Newest Features
I'm afraid you may be right. The message is 11 days old, it will be interesting to see how many weeks go by without any explanation. Of course, Elive is their own possession, they have the right to do as they want.by down8ve - Announcements of Newest Features
Great news, seamless compatibility with Apple software! No really, what is it?by down8ve - Announcements of Newest Features
Although I paid for Elive I had to leave it behind to use various softwares like Openshot. Currently I am using a community edition of PCLinuxOS E17. Besides that one, I see some of the former PCLOS developers have started Unity Linux, which offers an E17 spin similar to the PCLOS one, but also in 64-bit. Is there any news about the next Elive? I sure miss Debian sometimes.by down8ve - Other Suggestions
Agust, where did you get those icons?by down8ve - Users corner
OK, rt-click on the title bar, go to More...--->Remember--> Size and Position. A more flexible solution could be to set a maximum size, matching the resolution of your screen (like 1440x900) found under More...--> Window Properties. If you have selected another option related to remembering size or position these options will be greyed out.by down8ve - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Great news, thanks for the update!by down8ve - Announcements of Newest Features
Sarah, rt-click on the window title and select one of the options to set the window size (I'm away from my Elive at the moment). One of them even gives the option to make windows for a particular app a certain size (1280x728 for example). For me the pdf viewer is the worst offender.by down8ve - [OLD] - Installed Mode
