wow!! guess T really wants everyone to go to Elive 2.0. You could install the compiz 1.9.40 if you can find it, that was the only version I found to be stable enough to use, but I suspect they too have been removed PayPal is very secure in fact it is now a bank, not just a payment system. I have used it for a few years now and a lot of major stores/shops use it. To be honest its the only waby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode

To be honest I'm not sure, I have not yet upgraded to Elive 2.0 there are a few things I need to do and check up on first before I upgrade. but it should be listed in the installed addons from the tools menu If the feature is enabled in the liveCD and it is a proper add-on for firefox then it should be in the profile settings for firefox/mozila in your /home folder it is a hidden foldeby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode

don't worry it took me a while to realize what was going on. Basically unlike some other versions of linux Elive doesn't ask you to select your keyboard layout or timezone during install so it defaults to the US layout. Hopefully it should work fine after reboot. The keymap is a very standard and basic thing in any OS and is not related to Elive so you should not really be having anyby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I tried the liveCD of zeitgeist and it just felt wrong. So went with the regular unstable Elive. You are right in assuming that the newer version of the unstable should be more stable than the older one but zeitgeist has been modified from the regular unstable version. Just like the old Elive-Compiz was modified from a regular unstable and that modification came with a few issues though mostby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode

it is most likely a firefox addon don't know what its called but you can go to the tools menu select add-ons and Get Add-ons then search for the add-on you want. I don't know how well it will work though since Elive 2.0 is probably optimised to use this feature properly. Also note that the more add-ons you put in iceweasel/firefox the slower it will run. Did you get your external HDD working? If not open the partition editor (applications/administration/partition editor) to see if gparted finds the drive, if so then Elive not finding the drive may be the most common of things like 1: usb cable not connected properly or 2: partition is formated with exFAT (64bit FAT) which I don't think is properly supported yet by Linux but is under deby leanmoha - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
High the fastest way to reset the desktop to default will be to simply go to your /home hit ctrl+h to display the hidden files rename the .e to .e.old for example then reboot into the liveCD and copy the one from the /home folder of the liveCD into your installed mode /home folder. You could also just hit F1 after renaming the .e folder. Hopefully that will create a new .e folder. But it isby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Not sure I understand your question but, if you left click anywhere on the desktop move the mouse down to settings and select wallpaper it should bring up the wallpaper settings window. At the top of this there are 3 options Personal, System and Use Theme Wallpaper. If you select System all the wallpapers in the system folder will be listed and you can select the wallpaper you want. I agree with DronAn, Unless you are new to Elive, you will know the pay-per-install thing has been in the works for a while now. Also with Elive 1 you had to pay to download it. So payment is not an important issue, especially when you think that you pay over $100 for OS-X or Windows compared to the min $15 you pay for Elive. The most important thing is exactly how this payment works for mby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi down8ve re Reiser4 you can have a look at: and re Iceweasel I think the freeze is a general issue or bug in Iceweasel/Firefox itself. Like you I have both Linux and Windows and have the same issue with both Iceweasel and Firefox (the official and branded version of Iceweasel). Its also an issue with GoogleChrome but the freezes tend to happen when I have more than one tab open.by leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Thanks for the info Squirrel. That's perfect!! I will have a better look at the installer when I'm ready to put my desktop back together again. 4gig+ of RAM is really the only thing 64bit OS are good for (at least at this point in time) and if Elive can handle that without being a 64bit OS and give my quad-cores a bit more of a boost with more RAM then I'm happy.by leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode

The answer is very simple, if you want a smooth working and the most up-to-date and complete e17 with ecomorph then elive is the only option. I have tried all the ubuntu based e17 distros, the SuSe e17 distro, I have even manually installed e17 and ecomorph on both ubuntu and Suse and well, I have the unstable versions of elive installed on my laptop and desktop not ubuntu or suse. Thanks for the heads up DronAn, Didn't realise elive was still donations based but guess the whole buildup to the new system of donations/payment was kinda confusing when I first heard about it. For me personally elive will be a desktop and laptop install and will be more than happy to donate to keep elive going even if a bit short of cash right now. So will stick to the unstable for nby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
thanks DronAn I did as you said and MySQL works perfectly, the default location for the data was in /var/lib/mysql/ I copied the database files I use in windows into that folder and ran the use command and it found the database. Now just have to setup aquafold datastudio as the client for importing data and test the calls from java and matlab. thanks again.by leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone knows how to use MySQL with elive? I have a MySQL database I want to transfer into Linux but I don't know where to put it. I agree with nene VirtualBox is a safer bet for running linux. I found it slower than VMware but its more user friendly and not just because of the additional stuff you need to install but also because for whatever reason you need to patch VMWare to get it to work on Linux Kernel 2.6.30 and above. To be honest though I've never run VMware with Windows as the host. I use VMWare for runninby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode

Hey Lechuza, Yes there is no boot splash after updating, this is because of the new Linux Kernel being used 2.6.30. I had the same thing when I used to install this kernel beside the old 2.6.24 kernel so I could use the wireless card on my laptop. Booting into kernel 2.6.24 would give the bootsplash but no boot splash when booting 2.6.30. To get a boot splash you can try installing on fromby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi, I recently discovered my university provides wireless networking unfortunately, it uses a special WPA/WPA2 configuration called Protected EAP or PEAP. Essentially unlike normal WPA or WEP where you just enter a single network key, with PEAP you are actually logging into the network using a user name and password. The wifi tool in elive picks the network up but I can login because I doby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
OK guys, Having spent a lot of time on google on this topic, since I can't go without my Sims 3, I found a solution that works perfectly. If you use the directions on the PlayOnLinux you'll end up with dependancy errors like I said before. So to install PlayOnLinux, go to the playOnLinux site and download the debian file Then follow these steps 1 You need a new repo: CODE:by leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
