Hey Agust Were you going to make your themes available, like the brown one from your March screenshot? Keep up the good work (Have been enjoying several themes from you) later! she_dyedby she_died - Users corner
I always use the virtual terminals, but currently in Topaz they do not respawn when you logout. They just hang there, making the VT useless. I like the idea that there are four of them, but I was wondering what was keeping them from respawning. ("Then there were three...") This happens in live mode; so I wonder if installed mode would have the same problem. The splash screens could bby she_died - Other Suggestions
Now I believe I have elive_2.0_Topaz_new-kernel_up002.iso, but I never did have a splash screen, so I am not missing anything (but of course I can't set backgrounds on my VTs now) so hells yeah I miss the splash. I was browsing forums and in other distros, right before X starts, they were advised to add a USPLASH STOP (I have the usplash in my /etc/init.d in LiveCD Topaz). My problem is when I run the console mouse daemon gpm (iirc) on the Thinkpad, in Gem and successors I was able to click and copy (like it would on X) on a VT. Now I get the whole display highlighted to where the cursor is, making gpm totally useless. Not only that, don't ever log off the VTs. They just hang there and refuse to respawn another login. Makes me wonder if I'm the onlyby she_died - [OLD] - Installed Mode

I wish conky (my favorite system monitor) would work on ecomorph; currently the refresh on it blurs all text and doesn't get painted properly. gkrellm is nice, but sometimes a compact horizontal version that takes only 1 or 2 lines are enough, especially on certain screen sizes.by she_died - Other Suggestions
What is your graphics card? There are features like Clone mode or Xinerama or TwinView for certain graphics cards. You might have to add them in your xorg.conf; nvidia has a configuration utility to tweak a dual head layout, if nvidia is the graphics card that you are using. Tip: always use 'dual monitor' and 'linux' in your google searches, I used to find all sorts of tips inby she_died - Other Suggestions
Try running the commands in a terminal, and see what messages are shown. Normally since they are admin type apps, you should get a popup (which is esu off the Admin menu) to enter the root password. Try that approach, too: run esu, then enter the synaptic or gparted command after putting in the root password. Yet a third would be to enter su -c synaptic at the command line in a terminal. Sometimes there are people who have an idea for elive but keep it to themselves because they see they have to sign up. Why not one where you enter a captcha and toss the idea in, even if you don't have an account? Say for example only, somebody says, I wish elive could upgrade-in-place (example only). But then he comes here and finds, oh I have to be a member. It could discourage him froby she_died - Announcements of Newest Features
Go online with xchat to #elive channel, but try this first as root: apt-cache search ecomorph and see if you can use apt-get install right after.by she_died - Compiz version
To create a new item go to Settings>Settings Panel > Apps > New application. Make sure you type in the entire path of the .jar's location to be safe. Click on the empty icon box to browse for the icon you like, there are some I think in /usr/share. But for the lazy one like me, I copy it from some other app that I don't use. THe sound effects are in /usr/share/eliva-sounds I added this to my .elxstart in $HOME: ogg123 -q /usr/share/elivea-sounds/sunset.ogg 2>/dev/null 1>&2 & It doesn't have to be at the end of .elxstrt, it can play while it invokes the other programs. Substitute 'play' instead of ogg123 if the sound is a wav file. I know this is only a workaround. Thanks toby she_died - [OLD] - Installed Mode
If the laptop has recent windows you might want to try unetbootin. Put the iso on the hard drive. There are 2 ways of running unbetbootin. iirc, if it asks for the USB that's the wrong one, it won't work in your case. Pick the other one which asks where the ISO is. I went and bought a DVD drive for my old laptop, it was like US$6 and shrinkwrapped. I figured I will be using it to tesby she_died - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Run elive in Live CD mode, but choose other options at the start (graphics problems, so on) If you have an nvidia or ATi graphics card it should be detected (some ATi can be detected by entering vga=791 under 'options') We can also be reached using chat, channel #elive on server irc.freenode.netby she_died - [OLD] - Installed Mode

On my US keyboard here is how i get it In vim that is: Go to insert mode (press a or i) Press CTL-K Press c and , Now I also boot to Mandriva, and /usr/share/doc/vim-common-6.3/doc/digraph.txt shows the combination too so you could probably use in apps other than vim, but I am lazy so I just highlight the special c and copy and paste it straight from the manual. in vim type this commaby she_died - Misc Howtos

I get the same thing. For me getting the black bg makes it perfect to do this, it's a neat little trick, Stanca. I choose own_window AND take out undecorated in own_window_hints. My guess is it's either in the directory where you issued the command or in the default location which could be something like /usr/share/e/applications or /usr/local/share/e/applications and you would then have to copy it over to .e/e/applications/all afterwards.by she_died - Enlightenment

In liveCD, there is an option to configure the video 'on the go'. IIRC if you pick 'graphic problems' upon boottime, you can set the resolution (and even the driver) manually afterwards. Be prepared to set resolution and choose the graphics driver; you could start at a low resolution first, or choose them based on the last known settings. I also have an ati card. In boot options I change vga=791. WHen entrance login appears I press ctl-alt-f2 and sign in as root. It's the new login from GEM that splashes different words like "Sexy!" "Fast" and all that. I was wondering if it were possible to downgrade 'entrance' and entrance only. The only other solution I can think of is to eliminate the login so that you are immediately shown the eLive desktop instead of the login, which I do with earlier versions of eLive anyway.by she_died - [OLD] - Live mode
