Has the install code issue been fixed or at least better thought out for the new version? I puled out of using Elive ever since Topaz was released because of all the issues people had with the codes and the limited installations. Especially given my previous experience with the inability to update software without running the risk of destroying the install and then having to re-install. I think the problem is limiting the installs and poor choice of base OS. my only problem with Elive has been the fact I could never install up to date software without running the risk of killing the system and being forced to re-install. I had hoped that between the final development version 1.9.60 and 2.0 this would have been fixed but it was not. So even though I paid to install 2.0 if onlby leanmoha - Announcements of Newest Features
The suspense is killing me.... Thanatermesis, did you get a job at Apple or are you rewriting the whole of Elive?by leanmoha - Announcements of Newest Features
Yes using Debian Lenny instead of an older version as the base for Elive was a terrible mistake!! which means we are stuck with old apps...funnily enough u*****u 10.10 has the opposite problem, seems its libraries are too uptodate to install the enna media center and forget rpm based distros! Crazy world of Linux but we love it all the sameby leanmoha - Applications
jschall Dropbox does work on Elive...its not as pritty as on other distros bcos enlightenment uses thunar and not nuatilus plus Elive being based on debian lenny can only install out dated software. Seems everything these days is developed for U****u. Debian is stable and more robust but its never updated and so we are stuck using old softwareby leanmoha - Applications
hi, Does anyone know how to reset Xine? i don't know what i did or what happened but Xine suddenly has stopped playing mkv files. It plays everything else. mplayer is no use because it gives a lag between the video and audio. VLC and banshee don't play video files at all. Don't know if I installed something I shouldn't have thanksby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
yeahp this is a problem with Debian Lenny on which Elive is based. The Lenny repos are so old and the operating system itself touchy that any little thing and it wants to uninstall your entire system. Its not a problem confined to elive. I had the same issue when I tried using Lenny last year. So now I've just stuck with lenny repos and say "no" to anything that wants to uninby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
sadly the people to blame for this are ATI. They have been very lazy when it comes to supporting linux which is why most distros use non-official ati drivers. I had the same problem as you with my hd3xxx series ati card and decided I like enlightenment, elive and ecomorph more than the 10plus years I had been using ATI cards. sold the ati card and bought the nvidia geforce 8800gt on ebay withby leanmoha - Applications

The issue you are having is down to Debian Lenny not being widely supported unlike Etch and Squeeze. The best way to install missing software is via source-code and not the deb files or repos. Using source means the program is configured to your system before compiling and installing you may also want to add the debian multimedia repos to you Elive. You can get them from debian-multimediby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
OK managed to install version 1.5.4 using the build dependencies for version 1.0.1 which ships with Lenny then used Apt-pinning to upgrade "taglib" and disabled ipod-sharp because this is too old and upgrading wants to uninstall Elive.by leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
you need to install ecomorph if for some reason it isn't automatically installed when you installed Elive. You then need to left click > Settings > modules and load ecomorph. then next time you left click >settings ecomorph should be loaded and you can open its config window up and configure it to your hearts content.by leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi all, Has anyone tried to install Banshee on elive? I can install version 1.4.3 but today I discovered there was a 1.6.1. Unfortunately, from version 1.5.6 upwards banshee depends on gdata-sharp-core and it seems this can only be installed using the unstable debian repos because the GDATASHARP dependencies are not in the standard debian repo and these google, I'm guessing, librariesby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode

how did you install virtualbox? Did it update the linux kernel? Do you have the Elive-Linux headers and source files installed? Also from you may need to reboot after installing before it can build. O by the way you should know that PayPal is a proper bank now and not just a payment system so any transaction you make through them will be secured and guaranteed. In fact a lot of companies use PayPal as their payment system now. I for one will never buy or sell anything online with anything other than PayPal.
