Will this option ever be available in Elive? It sure is handier then downloading and importing them. I've seen it in other distros where I've installed E17 and it's very handy. Enlightenment backgrounds can be done this way too.by duhclown - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Okay. What did I screw up? In Synaptic I did a Reload -> Mark All Upgrades -> Apply and got this error. W: Failed to fetch 404 Not Found W: Failed to fetch Size mismatch W: Failed to fetch 404 Not Found This was the first Reload -> Mark All Upgrades -> Apply since the fine tuning. There were around 100 meg of updates being downloaded and I only got erby duhclown - [OLD] - Installed Mode

Whoa bro! You do know that Elive is based on Debian and not Ubuntu. Different deb's. It would be like installing RH rpm's in SUSE. It might work, then again itby duhclown - Applications

SmartLink Modem problem? You might be able to fix it by jumping through a few small hoops in an xterm before you let the fine tuning run. In an xterm check for the modem... dmesg | grep slamr Verify that slamr is loaded... /sbin/lsmod | grep slamr If not... /sbin/modprobe slamr Then start the driver... /usr/sbin/slmodemdby duhclown - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I'm using 1.9.48 and networking setup has improved greatly but there are no Windows machines on my LAN so I'd rather use NFS then SAMBA. Through Elpanel I can import and mount NFS' from other machines on the LAN but I can't export anything through NFS from this Elive box.by duhclown - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I'd boot to single user, reset the root password, add foo user, reboot or switch to runlevel 5 and see what happened. If I can log in as foo user from entrance or a tty I'd be thinking that I probably fixed it. If not I'd be wondering if I didn't either farckle the install somehow or my installation medium had a few scrambled 0's and 1's. If you have the latest develby duhclown - [OLD] - Installed Mode
It does work with the latest release. At least it now does with me. I've also gotten NFS to finally work.by duhclown - [OLD] - Installed Mode
There's a module that does this. It's even more configurable the KDE's.by duhclown - Other Suggestions
Spotty NFS support. I can mount my NFS drives but I'm not able to get write permissions. Other boxes on this lan can and even other *nix' on this box can but not E. Also, NFS exports in Elpanel doesn't work and I couldn't find SMB support at all in Elpanel. I used synaptic to install smb support and tools but now can't find them in my menu. What can I say? I'm used to konqueror and it's search capabilities. Thunar doesn't have that. It's nice to have a search function in your file manager (along with other cool features)instead of having to start another app. Anyways, I found searchmonkey in the repos and I am installing it now..... Wow. Works great. Now I just wonder if there's a way to integrate itby duhclown - Other Suggestions
I noticed no search function last night. -Bummer- Had to open a terminal and use find.It works, but a GUI would be nicer. I've had beagle before in SUSE and usually uninstall it because it's so bloated. Catfish I've never tried......by duhclown - Other Suggestions

I like it. Seems stable so far. The only problem I've seen so far is in networking. I don't have write permissions on a nfs drive that I should have. I have it from other machines running SUSE11 and XP|SUSE11 that are on the LAN but not from this Elive box. VNC is weird. A VNC into an XP host running vnc is fine but if I try it to a SUSE host in any wm but twm and it freezes the host coby duhclown - Announcements of Newest Features
