If using entangle two conditions must be met: 1. a icon (i.e. a valid eap exists in ~/.e/e/applications/all) appears in the left hand column of entangle. 2. the icon must correspond to an installed program or command. Making icons is rather tricky and annoying sometimes, hopefully this is being worked on. Which apps are you trying to add? There are lots of little things in elive thatby rab - Enlightenment
First you must find out what chipset you dongle is using i.e. ralink, atheros or prism etc.. You can then decide to use native linux drivers if they exist or the windows driver through ndis wrapper.by rab - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Instructions for how to compile are included with the source. The drivers website has a forum where lots of help is available. The simplest option should be to install the module via synaptic. The package is called rt2x00-modules-2.6.18-elive. The command lsmod should confirm that the module "rt2500usb" is loaded after you plug in the stick. Did you identify the chipset? Any error messages? dmesg? compile errors?by rab - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Until you can find a better solution you could shutdown using the command line with the shutdown or reboot commands. Just press ctrl+alt+F1 to get a terminal. The login window is a program called "entrance". Perhaps modifying the theme it uses could fix this.by rab - [OLD] - Installed Mode

The run command alt+esc has predictive typing which is pretty useful for launching programs. Like the ideas you propose though.by rab - Other Suggestions
Hmmm, strange, I just installed gxmame from the deb file on their website to try and see where the problem was, but it worked just fine. If you clicked the top left corner it should have had the option "create icon". The icon is in /usr/share/icons/gxmame.png. After apply it should be in the list in entangle and you should even be able to drag and drop to the ibar. If you still cby rab - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I think this uses the rt2750 chipset and should therefore be supported by a native kernel module. What does dmesg say when you plug in the adaptor? Try checking lsmod to see if anything related to rt2500 or rt2750 is being loaded. Searching apt for rt2750 should turn up the relavent kernel modules or compile them yourself from source.by rab - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Most likely the resolution you selected is not working probably due to faulty detection of your monitor or graphics card settings. Try selecting a lower resolution or lower refresh rate. Also you could try the keyboard shortcut ctrl+alt+plus or ctrl+alt+minus to change resolutions.by rab - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I also dislike firefox as it is way too slow. There is plenty opf better suiter browsers for elive imho. ~Perhaps we should have a poll? Also might I suggest sylpheed as a e-mail client. rtorrent for the torrent client. Get rid of the gimp too, maybe krita?by rab - Other Suggestions
I've had a lot of trouble creating eap's in the past and has always been due to one of the fields being filled out incorrectly. Unfortunately the eap creater seems to fail silently.by rab - Enlightenment
Try dragging the icon from the top right hand corner of the applications title bar. If that does not work then try edit icon under the menu accessed from the same location. The program entangle is used for editing which apps are displayed in menus and the ibar.by rab - Enlightenment
A script is just plain text and can be written in a text editor of your choice. You can use the command "gksu myscript" to get elive to ask for your root password before execution. I use the extension .sh for scripts, but I don't think that this is neccessary. You just have to make the file executable "chmod +x myscript".by rab - Applications
No, you generally wipe everything except your /home partition. This is where all your data and configuration files are kept. The result of this is that you only have to reinstall any extra applications that you use.by rab - [OLD] - Installed Mode
