Well, have you tried repairing the filesystem manually? If you do that shouldn't happen on boot, since repairing it won't be necessary.by Burnie - [OLD] - Installed Mode
You're not supposed to use the Desktop for storage, that's what your home folder is for. If you want all your crap on your desktop, install a Debian or Ubuntu distro.by Burnie - [OLD] - Installed Mode

In synaptic, completely remove all the alsamixer packages (that don't affect important system packages.) Restart Download Alsa Source. Run Module-Assistant. Choose to configure Also Source, and when it's done, choose to install the module. Exit. Restart Install alsamixer Run it in the terminal, make sure you unmute everything. If it still doesn't work, I'm clueless.by Burnie - Applications
Enlightenment and Compiz are both Desktop managers, you can't run Compiz on top of Enlightenment. I haven't tried, but if you were to remove E and replace it with standard Gnome, Compiz would work. Sounds dumb though, since eLive is built on E...by Burnie - Applications
Oh, wow. No internet access at all? If you have a different computer with Debian based Linux on it, you can get a package from Synaptic that'll let you install packages from another computer on the one without internet. If you get the kernel headers that way, you can compile new drivers for your wireless card. Once they're loaded, you'll have your wifi back. We do need to know mby Burnie - [OLD] - Installed Mode
You can't, the bling module is the closest you'll get at the moment. I think I read somewhere that they're working on making a compiz module for e17by Burnie - Laptop Howtos
Ok I figured it out. Sorry to bother you all, but I still think this is a bug that needs to be worked out before the stable is released. I had to log into Root and do the fine-tuning there. Now it doesn't pop up when I restart. This is very non-intuitive, as one would think it should work from any account when it actually asks for the root password. I downloaded and installed various keybord mapping programs via synaptic, but none of them bothered to start, or even work. Is there no program that'll let me edit the functions of the hotkeys on my external keyboard? Right now they do nothing, and that isn't very usefulby Burnie - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
How do I build a driver in this OS? Apparently there used to be a how-to, but it's gone now. As far as I can see, there is no build file. Broadcom has come around and released a linux driver for bcm4322, but we you need to build it individually, and it seems we can't in elive. Is the something I'm missing? edit: Was able to locate the old howto page via wayback machine at the inby Burnie - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers

They fixed this! Latest dev version is awesome. All we need now is for Broadcom to provide us with a driver that works. EDIT: Broadcom's STA driver for Linux works in combintion with a configured ndiswrapper!by Burnie - MacBook version
So on my good old Compaq desktop computer, the latest development version is running pretty much perfectly, you know, besides the fact that most of the apps are disabled. The thing that bugs me though is that every time I boot up my computer, the system goes all the way to the 'explorer' I guess I'll call it, I don't know what else to call it. Then that blinks out of existenceby Burnie - [OLD] - Installed Mode
In a previous thread it was said that version 1.6 was supposed to support the Santa Rosa chipset, but with the latest development version (1.7.6) I still get the applesmc flood on my screen when I boot from the cd, it alternates between c!= 18 and c!= 8.
