Also see a "box" with partial elements of the desired window remaining on the desktop after closing an info window in aTunes, sometimes OpenOffice has the document shifted to the right without any way to move it back to the center. I'll try posting a bug report.by down8ve - Compiz version
Yeah, Audacious has something goofy going on with corrupted elements of its interface. The player window is a box showing bits and pieces of the last application I used, and scaling the size gives similar results. But I did an "upgrade," not a recommended way to go. Does the same thing happen in a fresh install?by down8ve - Compiz version
Perhaps this was not a good thing to do, but I did a refresh/update in Synaptic and it installed the updated "e" stuff. Kernel was the same from .40 to .42, so I thought it might work. Only issue so war is that I must click the title bars of windows to bring it to the front, probably in some configuration somewhere. Everything else seems good.by down8ve - Compiz version
I have two drives, one has a fully updated openSuse ith the latest KDE 4.3, the other has Elive 1.9.40-compiz. I really wanted to use KDE 4, and after installing every known KDE distro I've about given up. OpenSuse was the best of them all, at least on my hardware. There's much to like about openSuse. It is fairly solid, rarely is there any problem that causes a reboot or logoby down8ve - Good Experiencies
Using v.1.9.40-compiz, I have a hard lock-up that can occur after waking from suspending the computer. For instance, just now I had to hard-reset the machine when I started Picasa while using Opera, Iceweasel, Thunderbird, and a video in VLC going on at once. This sort of thing has happened before with different apps open, and not just when trying to use Picasa. But it always happens after bby down8ve - Compiz version
I'm a professor, so listening to on my PC is quite important. Audacious is OK, but I want something a bit easier. I had thought Banshee would be the best application for my needs, but I've replaced it with aTunes. The reason I did so was due to distortion when Bashee played AAC files, most likely due to some codec dependency it uses that aTunes does not. If you have no AACby down8ve - Applications
Vincente, You may have a bad burn or a corrupted download. My advice is to download it and its MD5 (e1185b135211fa0f575104bc1a6a2bf3) from another server, check the MD5 signature to be sure it matches (Google for a how-to if you need it). Burn the CD at a slow speed to avoid errors. That fine-tune step is critical, and is probably responsible for you other problems. If you do this anby down8ve - Compiz version
I'm using Google Chrome on Elive 1.9.40-compiz. In order to enable plugin support, I need to run it by google-chrome --enable-plugins rather than just google-chrome. To do this from the menu I had to add a new menu entry for Chrome, and copy icons to a folder in my home directory and all. Is there an easier way, like editing the original menu item for Chrome? Just a hint for some of you who need updated apps that do not have readlily available .debs, or the source compiling fails somehow. When I went looking for Xiphos, a Bible-study app, the dependencies where scattered all over the place and there was no .deb available. I keep the Debian "unstable" repos available for things like this. Google how to add these repos (deb and deb-src)by down8ve - Applications
Funny request: When I place the Engage (is that the right name?) Application shelf on the side of the screen, could the application names pop up on the side as well? Works when the shelf is on the top or bottom, but you knew that already.by down8ve - Other Suggestions
It appears to make sense for folks like me to remember that once the new release arrives there probably will be updated software available in the Elive repos. I should be more patient. Thank goodness it is based on Debian, which makes it easy to install many packages via dpkg -i!by down8ve - Other Suggestions
If I could add one more thing, another thing I did just before fixing the key bindings was to open the ELpanel, click on the User Configurations and select my keyboard (US English) for the system AND the particular type for the terminal.by down8ve - Compiz version
Found it, thanks. For the uninitiated, he means to left-click on the desktop ->Settings ->Settings Panel, then in the resulting Enlightenment Configuration Panel go to "Input," click on "Key Bindings."by down8ve - Compiz version
Hey, My desktop grid keystroke shortcut has stopped working. Can't quite figure out the Ecomorph settings to find it. Any hints?by down8ve - Compiz version
Hey, as a mid-grade linux user, I think I have this set the way I like it. I'm using the Compiz version. First off, I was sure to print out the handy guide that pops up on the live CD. Printer I did not install the rather antiquated HP tools from synaptic, instead using the printer setup tool with Elive. I did select to use the third driver option, which downloads the driver from HPby down8ve - Good Experiencies
Problem I had installing from the "unstable" repo (for VLC 1.0) was it wanted to uninstall much of E17.by down8ve - Other Suggestions
OK, I have 1.9.40 up and running very well. What I wish Elive had, more than anything, are up-to-date applications due to recent improvements in most of them. Getting .debs of Openoffice 3.1, Opera, and others is usually not too bad of an issue. I compiled some things like Banshee just to get a better experience. If/Whenever the next version of Elive is released, will it then have updatedby down8ve - Other Suggestions
There was a handy guide to all the Ecomorph keystrokes on the live CD. Where will I find that html file so I can print it out?by down8ve - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Posting from it now. Boot was MUCH faster from the liveCD than in the past. Nvidia is now up to 185.14.18 (or close to that). Iceweasel is still 3.0.6, but can be fixed easy enough. Seems good, fast and stable. Nice work!by down8ve - Compiz version
Noticed the new 1.9.40-compiz version was out today.by down8ve - Compiz version
I have a daughter who really loves KTuberling from KDE4. Am I really out of luck trying to install it on Elive? I reckon there needs to be debian KDE4 repos installed to do this, which may ruin an Elive install.by down8ve - Applications
I'd like to request an updated hplip 93.9.6b). Thanks to the low resource requirements of Elive, many of us can put money into things that matter, like printers. This software would give me full access to my multi-function HP. I'd install from HP directly, but too many dependencies are not available.by down8ve - Other Suggestions
Every time I try out the latest development version of Elive I go download the latest version of OpenOffice (3.1) and download the .deb file, and use dpkg -i *.deb to install it. Debian is very flexible that way. But I have always run into some show-stoppers due to the lack of up-to-date softwares available. The big one for me is the old version of hplip that does not work with my new HP Cby down8ve - Other Suggestions

asides, Thanks so very much for this gem! That did the trick, but I am testing it out on the live CD, as I went to Kubuntu of all things to find a decent desktop. Nice, but Elive is so fast (save for this issue). Should I install this, how would I have this command launch by default? Are there certain lines I should add to Xorg.conf, or is this strictly something that has to load via a sby down8ve - [OLD] - Installed Mode

Tried adding Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True" to the monitor section, added the Load "glx" module section and loged out/in. Same problem. I have to think I am having issues with the nvidia driver.by down8ve - [OLD] - Installed Mode
