Hi, I had "upgraded" from 1.9.33 to 1.9.37 by doing a dist-upgrade. Then I read that this doesn't guarantee a full, true upgrade, so I burned a 1.9.37 disk and did the upgrade from there. Now, for some reason, xchat won't launch from itask, or from the terminal. How do I troubleshoot this? Thanks!by rebbi - Applications
Hi, I'm sorry for the cross posting... I'm perplexed here and wanted to see if anybody can answer this... I bought all three games bonus disks... thought I'd buy thana a beer for all his trouble... Anyway, none of them will auto launch for me here. Is there a way to get these things to launch if you're running the "tests" branch of the elive repos? I suspby rebbi - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Will the new games bonus disks launch if you're using the "tests" branch version of e17? I purchased all three disks but they don't seem to want to launch. SFby rebbi - Software

Okay, I found the app (actually, it's a shell script) and added the appropriate line, but it's still not working. Where is this script called at boot, anyway? I noticed that if I double-click on the shell script icon to run it, the "eeeeeelive" mp3 that's supposed to play at boot does play, which it normally does not do when i boot (since I upgraded e using the "testby rebbi - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Phoenix, Thanks for pointing me to this file; I didn't know it existed. But I don't understand the syntax of the file. Here's what I have, but oxine doesn't fire up when I insert a DVD. Hi, I'm running Gem with the latest "tests" version of e17. How do I designate what I want to happen (in this case, launch mplayer) when I insert a DVD or CD in my laptop? I can't find the setting anywhere. Thanks in advance, SFby rebbi - [OLD] - Installed Mode

Hi, The latest version of e17 in the "tests" branch of the elive repos gives you a desktop System menu with entries to Suspend (to RAM) and Hibernate (to disk). Suspend seems to bring my laptop into a suspended state, but then it won't come back out of suspension; either I get stuck at a black screen, or I seem to get back to my desktop but the laptop freezes up. Hi, If you want to alter the functions of your laptop's Synaptics touchpad, download and install the package gsynaptics from the repositories. The first time you try to run it, it will complain that you need to add the option SHMConfig "true" to the synaptics section of xorg.conf. Do this. You will then be able to configure things like scrolling, tapping and so on. I used it toby rebbi - Laptop Howtos
Hi, I'm running the Gem with the latest e17 from the tests section. Cinelerra won't launch for me (it has never launched, even when I tried it under the default e17 from Gem). When I try to run it, I get a small, transparent window in the upper left corner of my screen. Hi, I've had this problem, too. What you can do is this. From the command line, use startx, and get into e16. Then, run elpanel (you can do it from a shell or from ibar -- even though the ibar area shows a black rectangle the names of the applications will show if you mouse over them). I can think of a couple of things that would make Elive better, especially on laptops: 1) Power Management: Elive needs an implementation of powersaved with a nice GUI front end for suspend/resume of laptops! 2) In the network preferences, there should be a way to have Elive not to waste boot time doing DHCP requests for active interfaces without a connection. For example, if eth0 is activby rebbi - Other Suggestions
