Thanks for the response, yes I finally figured out the ntp daemon was not installed, so although I had installed ntpdate it would not run correctly. The Date problem seems to be resolved. Thanks again Martin Priorby martinwprior - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
At each boot I have to reset the time to my local time manually, even though the timezone is set to Africa/Cairo. When I use the "set time & date dialog" It shows that Africa/Cairo is selected, but I get the message that ntpdate is not installed. Actually it is. If I run it manually I get the error : 10 Mar 06:34:15 ntpdate[5075]: no servers can be used, exciting any help appby martinwprior - Configurations and Hardware Solutions

ok the problem was that on my desktop system I have an onboard soundcard that I disabled as other distros can not find it. In its place I have the Ess tech plug-in card. For whatever reason Elive is not finding the Ess Tech card. I enabled the onboard card of my MSI K9N6GM mother board , Realtek ALC883, and it is correctly found by elive. =========================== I have burned the diby martinwprior - [OLD] - Live mode
I have been using the latest version of the unstable branch. I use it all the time and have had no problems at all. All my hardware, including my SMC USB WIFI is working fine. I have installed some applications that I use for my businesses. They installed fine, they run fine (LedgerSMB), Opera 9.50, Bluefish. The system is responsive and fast, just what I wanted. Thankyou.by martinwprior - Good Experiencies
I have an SMC USB network stick. I use ndiswrapper and it works fine, as long as I activate it from the Epanel->Networks Configuration each time I boot up. Regards Martin Priorby martinwprior - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
I inadvertantly upgraded Brasero to 6.06? from the test repositories. When I tried to use it, it reported that the cd disks were not writable, they also reported the incorrect size of the cd. I looked on the web and found that some Ubuntu users also had the same problem with this version. Reinstalling version 4 returned Brasero to working condition. regards Martin Priorby martinwprior - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
This board has : MVIDIA GeFroce MP61(V/S/P) + nForce 410 Chipset witha Sempron Processor. I had no problem installing Elive Gem. I use a SMC usb wifi and installed the windows driver with ndiswrapper. My only problem was the sound card. I got this to work under DreamLinux using the Asla 1.0.14. When I tried to replace Alsa 1.0.13 in Elive Synaptic wanted to remove most of the packages soby martinwprior - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
To the Elive Team. Thanks to all concerned for the Elive release. I do not have a Paypal account, nor use credit cards. Searching on the elive Web some time ago I did see some reference to a bank account, but the information was not sufficient for my bank ( I live in Malaysia). I tried to email various members of the Elive team, but all appear unreachable and my mail returned. I have notby martinwprior - Off topic
