I'll wait. Thanks for the info. And while I'm at it, thank you phoenix for all your input on this forum... it'd be dead without you. Cheers!by az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Is it just the driver missing? If I install the driver will I mess up my system?by az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Your problem sounds the same as mine. If you have an intel wireless card that uses this module, you WILL need it to load before you can use wireless. It works fine for me in the stable version of Elive. Its just the development version that has the problem. I decided against trying to "fix" the development version as it is a work-in-progress and I want to try and stay with the dby az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
I don't have the know-how to edit ivman, or the time to work out how. So, I've just made two simple scripts which I've called "SD-card_IN" and "SD-card_OUT" to mount and unmount them for me, then added them as application launchers to my ibar. That'll do until the process is (hopefully) incorporated into Elive.by az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Is this just me. Do followed threads with email work for everyone else???by az_s_za - Off topic
So far, in my travels with elive, I have found two locations for repositories: "http://repository.elivecd.net" & "http://repository.elive-systems.com". Both with many sections: drivers, efl, elive, games, main, ports, tests. Is there any difference in content between the two repos, and what is in each section?by az_s_za - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I've just found that everything I need is already installed, but the ipw3945 modules are not loading on boot and cannot be loaded manually, so it may be a devolpment version bug. I'll check out the bug reports.by az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
I have an intel wireless card on my laptop. It worked fine with the stable version of elive and wicd. I am now using a new install of the development version, and wicd doesn't see my wireless anymore. I am guessing a driver issue, but I wouldn't know how to install a new one. I dual-boot to U buntu, which has no problems with the wifi, so I guess I could get drivers from there?by az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
I always tick the box "Send replies to this thread to me via email", and my user control centre has the option "follow threads by default" selected, but I never get any emails when people reply to my posts. Why?by az_s_za - Off topic
Quoteyou should google and/or search this forum for 'ivman'. thanks. A quick google and it looks like ivman IS what I need. However, I haven't found a simple enough how-to yet. I'll try again when I have more time to play with it and post my results here. Cheers.by az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Thanks, you've helped me a lot. I am now half way there. Yes, it is an internal SD-card reader. I have been googling for awhile trying to find an answer, but your google terms worked better. I found that there are 3 modules that need to be loaded at boot for this to work:tifm_7xx1, tifm_core and tifm_sd With the command lsmod (lists loaded kernel modules) I was able to see thatby az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Also, is it just me with this problem? Do SD-cards work out-of-the-box for the rest of you? Please HELP!by az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Nothing happens when I insert an SD-card. I have tried this on Elive Gem, as well as the latest development verion (1.2.24). How do I mount an SD-card? How do I configure my system to auto-mount them in the future?by az_s_za - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
I have no idea how to do this myself, so it would be nice if my system would do it for me.by az_s_za - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Bugger! We can only hope that they will all be working together with the next release.by az_s_za - Enlightenment
I love Elive, although I have a few problems with some hardware on my laptop. I am confident these will be resolved with updated versions. However, I am wondering, with Thanatermesis as the only developer, how can he keep on with the project for the long-term? It has been a massive job getting Elive this far, but once his current "To Do" list of new features is sorted out, will hby az_s_za - Off topic
I have now got my synaptics touchpad working. I updated the driver Quote/usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.soby coping a newer driver from a seperate partition (Ubuntu) into my Elive partiton. If you don't have access to another distro's files, you could get the same result by googling for an updated driver I guess. Hopefully this will be soved propery if we get a new versby az_s_za - Laptop Howtos
QuoteYes, but engage module do not work with newer versions of E17 Which version are you running? I have cvs20060518, which synaptic says is the latest version? Engage works great for me. Are you using elive? It seems Engage is only compatible with the Elive libraries. I know because I tried to install it on the E17 desktop of my Ubuntu distro, and it didn't work.by az_s_za - Enlightenment
Thanks for getting back to me. No worries about the timing... this is not a big issue, just playing with eye candy when we have time. This is a very detialed and well written tutorial. How did you get the synaptics driver working in the first place? I (and others, see here ) am unable to get my touchpad working properly with synaptics.by az_s_za - Laptop Howtos
OK, so I have used the Eap Editor to create a new icon for launching a program. However, when I open Entangle, my new icon is not there? How do I get my newly edited Eap icons into the entagle menu manager?by az_s_za - [OLD] - Installed Mode
If you use the engage module, you not only get a system tray, but a great application launcher/switcher. Its still in development, but works really well and can be found in the elive repository.by az_s_za - Enlightenment
I was also having problems with my touchpad. Commenting out Synaptics as mentioned above works to get clicking and sensitivity right, but it is not using the synaptics driver, so scrolling and other advanced features will never work. I finally got my synaptics touchpad working fully by updating the driver. To do this I just copied this file: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.sby az_s_za - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Congratulations on the making of such a great distro, and thank you for your hard work. I hope you can continue with it. I love Elive too. Best features for me are: - Based on Debian Stable & E-desktop (exactly what I want) - all multimedia works out of the box - bundled applications are very thoughtful. For example, most people who own computers these days also own a digital stiby az_s_za - Good Experiencies
