whoa, wait... i take back whatever i said about wireless not functioning. i'm not *sure* if it works, but i just found out that wireless was disabled in the bios (it was not disabled during install the first time, for sure...must have somehow happened during my ubuntu install in between elive versions...it's a shame the wifi light is *always* on, whether working or not.) I am typing this from freshly installed elive 1.8.4 (installed from cdrom, just like the last version). It seemed to have crashed to me because it exited without warning of any kind, not even any message in the xterm it opened to say that it had finished its work (the script had also said that it would prompt me for timezone info, which it had not yet done). I would like to give it another run, but don't know what or where it is. thanks in advance, i'll post if it crashes againby jxn - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Also, elive has been my favorite distro out-of-the-box ever. You deserve respect for that as well, of course.by jxn - Good Experiencies
I don't know what specifically you did, but I tried 10 different livecds prior to attempting elive, in an attempt to get my simpletech external hard drive recognized as a device. Whatever you (and my gentoo install) did differently (I'd guess that it's actually udev), I love you guys for it. You saved all my data! Thanks!by jxn - Good Experiencies
...or an apt frontend or something*... * granted, I'm running the latest development livecd only right now; perhaps you already have this in the installed version.by jxn - Other Suggestions

...or at least separating e16 and e17 elpanels. not that I don't like e16, but when I'm configuring things, I shouldn't have to tell the e whether I'm running it or it's predecessor, it should be able to figure that out without my help.by jxn - Other Suggestions
