Debian Lenny comes by default with OpenOffice 2.6.4, but in the meantime OpenOffice 3.1 was released. You can easily install it on your Debian box by using the Debian Lenny backports repository, which is a repository including newer versions of applications than the ones which come by default with Lenny. Just follow the steps below: Add the backports repositories To add the Lenny backports reby maceiras - Software
To configure 3g-modems (globetrotters modems) like Huawei, there are templates at /usr/share/templates/3g-dialer/templates I live in Uruguay, the apn of Ancel is wrong, not gprs, the correct is adslmovil. But it seems that the user and password may be setted manually. My question: in what folder and file (most probably in the /etc directory) is the configuration of the modem 3-g?by maceiras - [OLD] - Live mode
In a medical center we have an AMD K6 II, similar to Pentium II, 384 RAM, 6 GB HD, S3 video, etc. An old machine, 15 years old. It runs over Windows 98 ME and Red Hat 9, very slowly. Then we change Red Hat 9 by Damn Small Linux last year, it worked well, and can't install other Linux, or mini distros. What a when try Elive, and runs very well in Live mode. Tomorrow I will try to install it,by maceiras - Good Experiencies
I have this problem with wicd and turboprint (turboprint setup and turboprint config, the first adds a printer as root and the last configure a printer as user). I don know what is the command line of those. e17genmenu generated automatically them in e17, but I don't know how to see the command line at e17 to copy it at e16.by maceiras - Enlightenment
At E17 we can add new installed applications with "e17genmenu" tiping this in a terminal. How can we do this in E16? I like E16 because it is stable and complete. I installed wicd and turboprint in E17, and those applications appears in E17 but not in E16.by maceiras - Enlightenment
To setup the connection to the Internet in Elive and Debian-based distros, use (as root) pppoeconf, not pppoe-setup (this is included in Elive but does not match properly. pppoe-setup works good in Slackware-based distros like Zenwalk, and others.by maceiras - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
Fellows, wicd (check ) is a good utility to connect wireless to the Internet. It is 100% Debian compatible, and have a debian repository to add to our sources-list. Wifi-Radar does not connect at all.by maceiras - Other Suggestions
A few moments ago, I had success connecting with a Belkin USB Network adapter. I have had problems with wifi-radar in Zenwalk 5.0, and learned to install and use "wicd". Now, in a very beautiful Elive e17 installation at my Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop, with wicd my wireless network appears available, and my laptop was succesfully connected to my router. You must install with ndiswrapper (by maceiras - Configurations and Hardware Solutions

At Zenwalk 5.0 the same problem needs "wicd", not available at elive, it seems that wifi-radar is not enough for detect the available wireless networks. En Zenwalk se soluciona con wicd; parece ser que wifi-radar no se basta por si mismo para captar las redes inalambricas disponibles.by maceiras - Wireless testers
