During the partitioning phase of installation, you can pick the Mint partition to be / (root) or re-purpose it as something else. and it will need a Y where it asks Format? Here you can specify ext3. ext4, or reiserfs. The soon-to-be-ex-Mint partition will be overwritten afterwards, when you have confirmed the entire partitioning scheme.by she_died - Booting Medias

Did you run a chksum on the ISO that you downloaded? iirc its like md5sum name-of.iso and see if it matches the checksum listed on the webpage you got the ISO from. (It's a way of checking the integrity of the download, that it wasn't corrupted in any way, in case you didn't know.) Incidentally if it's possible to have a second PC up, point an IRC client to irc.freenode.netby she_died - [OLD] - Live mode
I tried following the E17 guide, and the background.edc there but perhaps the code is dated. Is there a newer version or maybe a command that can do it on the fly?by she_died - Applications
Hmm sounds like a practical idea...I run live all the time while waiting for some things to get fixed. I could replace audacious with xmms, and add tmux, mpc, and qiv, remove some logs (huge at initial startup?) and so on and shrinkwrap that iso. Probably free up tty0/VT1. Finally use gujin to boot that bad boy for testing (the rest can stick with their VMs). The best part could be, it will bootby she_died - Misc Howtos
1. Latest stable Elive is Topaz; GEM is old like Windows 2000 is to Windows 7. There might even be little to no wireless support. 2. Thanatermesis has two entries, method one and method two. This second method worked for me. And you're in SUSE, did you try what it suggested: usng the command grub-install.unsupported instead of plain grub-install? Here is what I meant... When you left click to get the menu, pick Settings>Modules. In that dialog, if itask-ng is on the right side, it's ready to be used--otherwise select from the left side and click Load Module. After it's loaded, exit that dialog and left-click menu again to pick Desktop>Shelves. Once you select a shelf, you go to Set Contents , and you can add itask-ng toby she_died - Applications
Click on Settings>Modules, there is itask-ng. You can just pick a shelf to put it in. Also the mouse is used to copy, left to highlight, then middle mouse button to paste, y'know, the *nix way of copying. On the (left-click) menu, pick Settings>Modules. On the window, scroll down to choose Ecomorph, then Load module. You might get a warning about the system getting unstable, but your card should be more than capable, if the new drivers were installed. Now, that the module is loaded, you can customize further: left-click again, but this time when you choose Settings, Ecomorph should now be partby she_died - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
We have some outstanding themes, but the media players have to come with their own skins, and somehow ruin the consistency or the overall look. These players always have to be some sort of variation on metal or chrome. Now I know a lot of us here lean towards console players. But I was thinking something along the lines of the old emodule mpdule that would provide a minimum of play/forward/back bby she_died - Other Suggestions

I was faced with a similar situation, so this is something I tried: I booted into live mode, and left it at the most basic default settings. Added the squeeze (or whatever) repos that I wanted, and ran apt-get update. Then installed the app (in this case it was awesome window manager 3.4.something -- hooch). I received warnings naturally that it was basically going to gut my system, and thaby she_died - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Check out my desktop on the live edition of Topaz: e17 (screensaver below heh) What's not showing is the drop down console 'yeahconsole'. How do I switch it off? I have picked my wallpaper but whenever I restart the X session, it still shows me 2 of the 'sky' elive walls and the theme wallpaper, and then it will settle on the theme wallpaper, even though I had made a choice in a prior X session. I recall using compiz on some other distro. One would be able to swing the mouse to the top left corner or right corner and the cube would switch to the next desktop in that direction accordingly. I think it was something like hotspots where you can use the corners of the desktop to do something different. I think since freenode refuses a mibbit login, the bookmark no longer works, and they prefer that we use webchat.freenode.net now. At present, all that the bookmark does is, it asks you for a userID or nick, then simply disconnects. There's a caveat, though with webchat. Before, that old bookmark only asks for a nick. What is slamr? The google hits turn up something that appears obsolete. What happens when you run other live CDs, do they also hang or hesitate before displaying the GUI? Where did you put slamr? I was wondering whether anyone else has tried highlighting text in virtual terminals. The mouse, even with gpm, refuses to do X-style copy and paste. Dronan's reply from March still applies. Double click or mouse wheel (do you have one? The virtual terminals, or VTs are the text consoles you get when pressing Ctl-alt-f1 thru f4 (I like how elive limits it to 4 instead of 7, but maybe 5 could be more useful--VT1 is stuck on the menu) from the GUI. I have wallpaper for those VTs too, so I miss the /proc/splash and bootsplash things as well. Those items are needed for the background to work.by she_died - Other Suggestions
I tend to disable drop shadows because it produces a weird effect: the shadow of each window is everywhere. The terminal window is on workspace 1, but when I go to workspace 2, 3 or 4 the shadow is also there, with an 'invisible' terminal. If I open up another terminal, or a browser, they will also throw their shadows on the other workspaces. I have an nvidia 6200 and Topaz picks newestby she_died - [OLD] - Live mode

I was trying it on Windows 2000 (since it said it was compatible). I was only recently able to try out Topaz, since the PC had problems reading off the burned CD. As root, I was messing with chmod -rf 755 /usr/share/themes/Antique and when I went to Settings>Themes the two new themes for Gtk showed up I will see what happens on my next live session to see if that was the fix.
