..ok. Same thing again - works fine after the install. Try to install any modules, and it requires you to update packages that break ecomorph. Some sort of warning might be a good idea.by nipsen - Compiz version
Ok.. so with the usual stream of luck I tend to have, somehow the syslog filled my root-partition, and for some reason I couldn't log on any more. I.e, the feed for the input- strings weren't read. And before that, all the keys wouldn't respond on the console for the same reason. But hey.. I had an update on an usb- stick, so I thought I could do the update I've been putting oby nipsen - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I have a feeling I should've know that (good work on the distro, btw.)by nipsen - Compiz version
So, the live- distro of e17 with echomorph works fine on my Eee901.The new source fails to load. Apparently I have a new ecomorph command (and no ecsm) - which says there's another windowmanager running, and that there's no available displays for running eco. Any ideas? I've had to reinstall from the live- image in the meantime, and I sort of lost.. all the neat modules.. sinceby nipsen - Compiz version

I'm guessing the primary partitions you have don't show up in the installer.. If you don't have anything you need to keep, just use gparted (choose the "advanced" install- option, and pick gparted for partitions), and delete the partitions you have. Then (easiest option) create one primary partition with reiserfs at about 5Gb (on the beginning of the disk - actually,by nipsen - [OLD] - Live mode
Ok. So I assumed that since there were settings for the Eee that worked really well on the live- mode.. it would be about the same on the install. But after the install suspend usually doesn't work - or if it works, it takes a a lot longer than you should expect. But usually it simply ends up in a black screen. The boot takes a long while as well, and I get a few strange pauses and messagby nipsen - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Well, just a status update: works fine, had to create the partitions, and apparently write a partition table in gparted before I was allowed to create an extended partition. Then choose the partitions in the installer (/dev/sdb5... etc.), and that worked fine. Now there's basically only the hibernation left. Apparently tuxonice writes to the disk, but doesn't restore on a reboot. Iby nipsen - [OLD] - Live mode
So.. my revised list for things on the Eee 901 is: 1. Volume keys. Fn+function keys won't register in the E17 manager.. does this mean it's impossible to use that combination... - is it possible to find out where the problem is..? 2. "Turn off screen" and other keys on top of the keyboard - I have to give up on those, no..? 3. Ctrl+Shift marking text - i.e., wholeby nipsen - [OLD] - Live mode
...wow. ..there's this setting in the boot- menu for EeePCs... I suddenly realized. Halt those questions about sound, lights, and so on. This is impressive work.by nipsen - [OLD] - Live mode
So, I tried booting on an USB stick, and it works really well. But I have a few questions: Sound: seems that I get sound in the headphone jack, but not in the speakers (toggling the switch mutes the stereo- jack). Is this an alsa problem, or something else - will the solution just be a new driver, or..? Can I use the driver Asus wrote for the linux version - much point doing so..?
