I have primarily stuck to Fedora for my Linux needs but I have used Suse as well as Ubuntu on occasion. I have always used the Enlightenment desktop environment in the past. I have recently install Elive + Compiz and it is just mind blowing! I recall in the past when Compiz Fusion was just coming out I wanted these effects to be available in my Enlightenment desktop. I had the same problem with my Nvidia Card & Compiz effects. You have to edit /etc/X11/Xorg.conf you should be able to login to the Failsafe mode which will get you to the command prompt. Enter the command "su" to enter your root pwd. then type scite /etc/X11/Xorg.conf (scite should work here, since the elpanel worked for me there) make sure that under the "Screen" sby Lludw - Compiz version

This allowed me to log back into my account after rebooting. To gby Lludw - [OLD] - Installed Mode
