One of the things I like about Elive is slideshow which allows me to rotate my many favorite wallpapers on my display. I have about 40-50. After loading about 20, as I tried to add more whenever I select wallpaper from the menu, it does not complete (by that I mean it does not show the installed wallpapers in the left column, the left column is blank and then freezes Topaz? Hi, realize your posting on DClock is old, but thought I would give it a try. I downloaded this about a year ago and could not find it anywhere afterdown. Looked on all the shelves and all available "gadgets". Thought perhaps it was limitation of Gem. Now I have TOPAZ installed and want a digital clock, so I again, downloaded from Synaptic and AGAIN, I can't find it. Where isby Vincente - Other Suggestions
Trying to install Topaz from "live" CD as my computer will not accept USB stick. Made "donation", got an email with a "installer-module.cod" link in it, but I cannot do anything with this. No instructions how to access/open the darned thing. Just sits in my download file, useless. As I try to proceed through installation process, get to obtain/insert module, thby Vincente - [OLD] - Installed Mode

I agree.....I have had it, totally disgusted with something, 10 years in the making,---- that still does NOT work. Mardon had good suggestion, move on, which is what I am doing. I tried his suggestion OpenGEU, but kept getting a "kernal panic"???(whatever the heck that is). So I went to Ultimate Edition and wow, much nicer build on top of standard Ubuntu Jaunty with compiz that actuaby Vincente - Compiz version
Mardon, thanks for bothering to respond---I see with your 47 posts, you are a patient follower of this forum (patience, something I am losing with e17-compiz). I am not looking for sympathy, just real world, meaningful answers to problems that SHOULD NOT exist---like no sound in the year 2009, unbelievable. I am having a love/hate relationship with this distro. After the last "upgrade" (which I had no control over, thanks to "fine tune") I have lost sound? I have the new Zotac ION-A motherboard that has all the newest, latest nVidia video & audio features supposedly E17 Compiz likes, but I seriously question if Than is staying up to date with technology. New to linux, stumbling as I go. I figured out how to download and install Opera (far superior browser to IceWeasel) and contrary to what they try to tell you, IceWeasel and FireFox are NOT the same, did a side by side and IceWeasel's search results poorer and many sites could not open whereas FF did, but Opera 10 beats them all. Is there anyway to remove IceWeasel and designate Opera asby Vincente - Compiz version
Hey thanks for reply.....bootload mgr does not give option at all, so I cannot disable "fine tune"....however, after 3 days and multiple boots, (each plagued with the fine tune fiasco) finally, yesterday, I got a "congratulations, you have been successful" at the end of the fine tune nonsense. Have not had it since, I did nothing but continue to boot and finally it either gotby Vincente - Compiz version
Thanks for reply....I am pretty sure download/burn is OK, have re-installed, same problems, burn was done at slow speed, all good gear. I am using one of the latest Gigabyte MB's with onboard Via 8237 ( I am NOT technically savy) basically a plug and play guy wanting to learn Linux as a permanent exit from M$. Tried installing on another computer with Intel DG45FC---very RECENT MB, I am woby Vincente - Compiz version
Hi, escaped prisoner from M$ trying to get up to speed with E17-Compiz. Downloaded latest version, 1.9.40 (terrific)....BUT, no sound (audio)---Denon player all blurred and nothing works(?),....audio CD extractor same, total bust.... funny I get sound from movie player for DVDs, not on CD or any internet sites that have sound ? Are there special codecs that need to be downloaded to play MP3by Vincente - Compiz version
