I visit several forums each day, and a feature that helps with this is the "New Posts" feature that displays a list of posts since my last visit. I don't see that function here; is there a way to do this? I have a double interest in this, because I just created a new board (collection of forums) with Phorum, since I liked what I saw here and its simplicity of administration (Iby LaneLester - Off topic
Regretfully, I did not find my favorite file manager, EmelFM2. Do you think I'll have to compile it from source? When I did an 'aptitude update' I got an error for one of the repositories: W: GPG error: lenny Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 07DC563D1F41B907 Do I need to get a key, or is the repoby LaneLester - [OLD] - Installed Mode

I observe there are only two repositories in sources.list, which probably explains why I can't find some of the programs I usually run in Linux. What other compatible repositories are there? Laneby LaneLester - [OLD] - Installed Mode

I have a separate partition for /opt which is shared among several distros on one of my drives. In installing Elive 1.9.57, I used the "I already have my partitions" option, but when I tried to add /opt, Elive said it was going to format the partition. I had to kill that install. Getting better with each release! Gparted still broken, scans devices forever. I have two drives with a bunch of partitions each. ext4 requires separate /boot partition. Have not seen that in Ubuntu or other distros. I keep one partition for /opt for use with all the distros on my drive. But when I tried to select it under the "I already have my partitions" option, it wanted toby LaneLester - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I look forward to trying that out. I confess I gave up on Elive (sorry, don't remember why now) and am back in Ubuntu Karmic. But I'm running E17 there, so your suggestions are still relevant to me. Things that usually kill my interest in a distro are the failure of some things to work the way I want. With Elive, it may have been Conky, because I havby LaneLester - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I know about dragging the upper left icon of programs to the bar to add them. But I have some programs that do not have menu entries (is there a menu editor?), so I can't use this procedure to add them to the bar. If I execute them from the terminal, their window shows the terminal, and that's what gets installed by a drag to the bar. Since my favorite file manager, EmelFM2, wasn't in the repositories, I compiled the latest version. Unfortunately, the process did not add an icon to the menu. I dragged to the bar the "question mark" icon from the upper left corner of the EmelFM2 window. This put a blank space in the bar from which I can execute EmelFM2. I right-clicked the spot and brought up the Desktop Entryby LaneLester - [OLD] - Installed Mode
OK, I found the thread that tells how to get Synaptic. I just assumed there would be a repository program installed by default. Maybe there is in the stable version. Laneby LaneLester - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I'm a long-time Ubuntu user who likes to try other distros... Debianish distros, that is. I just installed Elive and am looking forward to seeing how much satisfaction it brings. I'll donate if I use this for a while, but this time I went with the free x.54 version. Kudos for the LiveCD recognizing my nVidia motherboard chipset and giving me a nice screen for the install.
