Short update: the screen also freezes (but laptop shuts down) without splash (no settings in GRUB), and also without framebuffer (no vga setting in GRUB). By the way: I am using kernel version 2.6.31-elive-686. Many thanks!!!by ChriguK - [OLD] - Installed Mode
When turning off or rebooting my laptop (Acer Travelmate 6004LCi with Intel 82852 855GM) the splash screen is corrupted or does not show at all. VGA is set to 791 (I also tried almost all other configurations), and testing by issuing command 'usplash -fb -fs -v &' works fine, i.e. the splash is shown in the framebuffer. I've been digging into this problem for the last two daysby ChriguK - [OLD] - Installed Mode
