ELive used to be the best incarnation of Enlightenment in a Linux distribution. Not any more. Users who are annoyed with the fact that they had to pay for eLive, and/or that it seems to be dead or at least abandoned, you now have a better alternative! Bodhi Linux has just been released in its final 1.0.0 form following several beta releases. Bodhi is a minimalistic, enlightened, Linuxby jschall - Enlightenment
@negrito28: It's true, the installed HD space requirements (2.5GB, approximately) are not mentioned on the eLivecd site. One thing you can do s get yourself a 4GB USB key, and install to it using the same installer code you bought. Another option is to install Bodhi Linux, which is a VERY minimal assembly using e17 and U*u**u 10.04. It fits in 1.5 GB. I am running it on my eeePC 4G:by jschall - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Eighty + views, but nobody responded. I guess no other eLive users use Dropbox. Well, I've got Dropbox installed, by finding this link: It's about KDE, but it works with Enlightenment, too.by jschall - Applications
I'm new to eLive, too. But as far as I know, there is no System Monitor. I use Conky to see CPU use, disk space, upload/download speeds, etc. What specifically do you want to monitor? Conky probably does that. But it would be easier for you to just install gkrellm from the repository.by jschall - Applications
I would like to learn to add a module that is not in the elive repository. There are several interesting ones on the Exchange site, and I have seen the Places module working on PCLOS. So I downloaded it: But I don't know what to do with it Do I have to compile it? If so, how? The eLive User Guide talks about "make-deb compile", but that doesn't seem to exist in Toby jschall - Enlightenment
I had this problem, too, so I was anxious to try chrdsto's solution. But his solution is not quite complete - the file to edit is: /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/cpufreq.conf And it works for me on my eeePC 701. Thanks, chrdsto!by jschall - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
Sure is quiet in here... I got rid of the annoying sound - but by brute force. Rather than find the script that calls the sound file, I found the sound file: /usr/share/eliva-sounds/system-restored.mp3 - and just renamed it. So the script can't find it, and my wake-up from suspend is silent. Is nobody else annoyed by the wake-up sound?by jschall - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
I think this is as beautiful as eLive: And your Broadcom chipset will work on it! Did you see this? Or these? That last one implies that the connection will work in installed mode, but not in live mode... I'm afraid I don't know how to help you more than that, Jurgen. That particular wireless chipset family is a real problem for many Linux distros. Good luby jschall - [OLD] - Live mode
I can confirm U*u**u is on the list. Windows is OK.by jschall - [OLD] - Installed Mode
OK, so neither Linux distro "sees" your wireless chipset. The driver may be missing from the kernel. "7. Do you see your wireless card when you enter lspci in the terminal? - I saw Ethernet controller(This is the wired one right?) And I saw Network controller(Think this is the wireless one)" I'm not sure that the "Network controller" is the wireless chipseby jschall - [OLD] - Live mode
Hi, Jurgen. Some questions for you: 1. How are you booting - from CD-ROM or fro USB key? 2. What have you tried in live mode? 3. Do you see the "Internet" widget on a shelf on the bottom of the screen? 4. Did you open the Internet Configurator? 5. Do you see your wireless interface (one of the two buttons at the left - there is a wired button - eth0, and a wireless buttonby jschall - [OLD] - Live mode
So, I finally got my eeePC to suspend reliably on lid close, but now I am annoyed by a voice announcement: "eLive System - restored" every time I wake it up. I don't need to hear that, it's just annoying for those around me. How do I turn off the wakeup sound?by jschall - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
Oh and by the way, I couldn't use the word "U****u" in my post - it's on the list of banned words.by jschall - Applications
Is there any way of getting Dropbox on eLive? I tried using the package from the getdropbox website, but there was an unfulfillable dependency - probably Nautilus and a lot of Gnome libraries.by jschall - Applications
@Hazzarel: Congratulations on your English! It's better than Google Translate, and certainly better than my Spanish! 1. Audio config: Settings/Settings Panel/Extensions/Mixer There you can select your audio interface and set it up. 2. Like I said, the Pager is installed all alone on Shelf 6, NOT on the desktop. You can remove it from there if you wish, and add it to Shelf 8 (bottom rby jschall - Applications
The short answer - you don't. Except for Favorites, that is. Settings/Settings Panel/Menus/Favorites. The menus are configured in xml files with the extension .menu. You can see some examples in /etc/xdg/menus. Or look here:by jschall - Enlightenment
@Hazzarel: Google Translate has produced nearly-unreadable English. I am not "staff", and I'm not an expert in eLive or Linux, but maybe I can at least determine what your two problems are. 1. What are you trying to control the volume of? What application do you want to listen to? - What kind of hardware do you have? - Do you have hardware volume control keys? Ummm... Did you PAY your $15 bucks for the installer code?by jschall - [OLD] - Installed Mode
SOLVED. I finally found the Power management applet, and found that under AC operation, ELive was configured to only blank the screen on lid close, rather than suspend. I corrected that, and now ELive suspends reliably on lid closure.by jschall - Hardware Howtos
AlexAnteMachina Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I guess using the language module should do it. Well, I have the same question, but that suggestion doesn't help, because I don't know what the "language module" is, or how to use it. However, I have found an alternate solution, and I will describe it here. setxkbmap is a tool to queby jschall - Configurations and Hardware Solutions

The installation went very well - nearly all of the hardware was detected and optimized. But when I close the lid of my eeePC 701 4G, eLive does not suspend. It will suspend with the Fn-F1 (Zz) keys, and also from the System menu. How can I configure the lid switch to suspend?by jschall - Hardware Howtos
