Hi all, for many years now, I have been waiting for a 64bit kernel. Even puppy linux supports that nowdays. Is Elive going to support it?by archwndas - Enlightenment
This should be supported by enlightenment. Not using xorg or command-line methods. Somebody should finally do it.by archwndas - Enlightenment
Hi there. I have a wireless Logitech keyboard and it is working fine on Debian. I mean that by the time you are about to login you can type your name and password. In Elive however, this doesn't happen. I have to unplug the USB king of thing and replug it again and then I wait a bit and only after that I can use my keyboard and login. The wireless mouse on the contrary works fine. On Dby archwndas - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Hi guys, I guess many people have problem with Elive's frequency scaling applet. Well, I tried to do scale my frequency manually with : $ cpufreq-set -g powersave etc. but it doesn't work. So it is not a problem of the applet but of the linux kernel and the cpufreq-tools. Was anybody able to find a way to fix this? My hardware is OK, because on 64bit Debian everything is fby archwndas - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Dear all, thank you for the wonderful Elive 2 stable. I tried it on my laptop and everything seems to be working fine except one little detail that has a hard time to work in several development versions. This is the CPU frequency scaling module of Elive. My CPU is an Intel Centrino 2 Duo and can go from 800MHz 1600MHz 2100 MHz 2800MHz. However the emodule can only switch from 2.1GHz to 2.8GHz.by archwndas - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
Hi there, I observed in Nvidia GEM and several development versions that there is no easy way to update the Nvidia driver. It would be nice if a tool could be provide or documentation to allow easy switch from one Nvidia driver to another. Debian Linux and as a consequence Elive, are really a trouble with respect to this fact. In Ubuntu they realized the problem and they provide a unsupporteby archwndas - Other Suggestions
I also noticed that application's responsivety is really slow with enlightenment. With other linux distros, it is fine. I think the problem is CK sources of Elive. Who has benchmark them against other sources to tell us where and how they perform better?by archwndas - Other Suggestions
guys do not expect answers from that forum. It is unfortunately not that active. Moreover although the Elive design seems really cool it is for some reason stupidly restricted to 64 bit. All new CPUs now days are 64bit. If 64bit technology is there, why should we run 32bit systems? Those guys do not understand that. Moreover Debian packages are pretty old. Terribly old. And even if that can be fby archwndas - Announcements of Newest Features
So nobody in this forum know how could we update the Nvidia drivers? Oh guys this is not good. Not good at all. Downloading the nvidiablablabla.sh file and running it in running level 3 mode (how can I boot in that what should I change in inittab) with kernel headers install should do the job. But it doesn't. Some scripts updates NVIDIA TLS and blows everything up after rebooting. So why shoby archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Thank you very very very much. I will try it soon. But I am mostly interested in fixing the nvidia drivers. Could you please answer to my other post if you know how? Best, Drosos.by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi guys, I believe that some issues as important as Nvidia do need a howto. It would be nice if the main developer of Elive considered this seriously. Things like, 1) sound 2) graphics 3) network 4) wireless do need threads of their own. I would like to update my NVIDIA drivers but there is nowhere I could find information on how to do that. It might be impossible since there are no pacby archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode

Will there be something like e16 in e17? It is very nice you know, like MAC OS. Are they thinking of implementing a similar thing? When I said that icons do not scroll, I meant that in Elive Gemm they do not scroll as it happens with Elive Dev. Is there anything special about Elive Gem? Can I make the scroll not as in e16 but as in Elive Dev?by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Of course there is. Right-click "Automatically Scroll Contents"by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode

the composite extension is enabled in Corg.conf yes It does in Sabayon Linux, I have Compiz installed and working with KDE. I do not know the Elive internals, could you give more details and commands ... I am a Gentoo user just switched to Elive.by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode

Hi guys, I added some more icons on my IBAR and unfortunately they do not all show up. I am running Elive GEM Stable. The latest I could download. In the development version I know what to do. Here ??? Not. By the way, I tried e16. It has a great scrolling of icons there. How could I do the same in e17? Best, Archwn.by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi guys, How can I update my Nvidia Drivers? I searched a bit and I realized than I need Linux kernel headers. However you do not provide Linux Kernel Headers anywhere for the Elive Kernel. Where and how can I get them? How to update my Nvidia drivers?by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode
And then what? When I run it it says that there is not any composite extension. Is there anything more I need to do? Do I need to install new Nvidia drivers?by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode

Hi guys, does anybody of you know if there are any XComposite like stuff implemented in Elive. With e16 Xcomposite works fine. What about here? Any ideas?by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode

Thank you; it works really great. Do you know the answer to my Eterm X11 mouse reporting post? Mouse doesn't work well with VIM in ETerm while it does with XTerm. It is not convenient.by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode
It doesn't matter weather or not you have an AMD64 processor. Elive works fine. It needs a little bit of tuning in boot time. It boots quite slow. SuSE 10.3 now boots in 20 seconds. Elive needs about 50 seconds. But I like it so much. For a native 64bit system the best choice you can have is Sabayon Linux: www.sabayonlinux.org I was using that one before switching to Elive. Yes it supports them, BUT it is not 64bit ... So do not expect it to be as fast as a native 64bit Linux system. Elive is wonderful. I do not know why those excellent programmers which created Elive didn't prepare a 64bit version of Elive. It is much faster guys. At least in scientific codes compiled from source using compilers which CAN do 64bit optimizations. This is the PathScale compby archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi guys, I would like to enable X11 reporting in Eterm such that it can work with vim the same way it works with XTerm (mouse cursor placement by clicking and stuff). However the Eterm that comes with Elive is fixed and doesn't have the bar menu. How can I enable it? I do not care about the menu just enable X11 reporting. Hy guys, I would like to install gcc-4.3. However it needs the mpfr library and gmp library to be built. Anybody knows how to install them? apt-get install mpfr apt-get install gmp do not work. Thanks, Simeon.by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi guys, is there any screen capture utility in Elive Gem? If yes could you tell me which is it? If no, then could you please tell me which to download and install, one that doesn't need KDE or GNOME? Thanks in advance, Simeon.by archwndas - [OLD] - Installed Mode
