after some 6 boot sequences keyboard mapping is recognized, strange thing.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
it looks as elpanel doesnt like saving preferences, I have now the same problem with my Latin American keyboard mapping, it goes away at every boot. I am on eLive 1.2.4by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
if it is at the boot sequence, I had the same message and it freezed. I then typed "exit" and the boot sequence went on to a normal login.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi everybody, I threw away my Gem installation (it was in perfect condition) to install 1.2.4 dev. Now I do have real problems: my Palm TX stopped to sync with Jpilot, my main working assistant! and a Genius ColorPage-HR7 scanner refuses to be recognized by Xsane. These two gadgets worked perfectly on Gem, USBview does see them (except the scanner is in red, meaning it doesnt have a driver attachby alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
you can add one user (your name?) in the epanel. Give it a password as usual. Then get out of epanel once it tells you it has created the user. Then go to the menu System, User Account Admin, there you must login as root (eliveuser perhaps) there you can change your user privileges, first item in a list is> administer the system, click it, you are now administrator. Oh, and by the the way, xmms plays Streamtuner like charm.by alex2035 - Other Suggestions
I go along with you guys, XMMS all the way, smart, nice, small and fast. Amarok and all other incarnations seem to me like some Office like application for , menus, lists, windows, databases, what the hell! i just want to listen to the !!by alex2035 - Other Suggestions
Good idea, this will make Elive spread and benefit more users. Good luck. Sometime time I should do something in spanish as well (this is my native language).by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
depending on your nvidia, you download nvidia-glx (newer cards) or nvidia-glx-legacy (older hardware), one of this should work. Remember that E17 doesnt support a 3d desktop. What I have used in my older machine (nvidia Gforce2) was driver nv with good results.by alex2035 - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
at less than U$S 10 , it is a cheap solution that will surely work. Now perhaps the new development Elive 1.0.2 would solve the problem, but I personally will stick with this second reseau card! good luck.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
has under Applications, just added EPPP 0.0.3 with link to download and instructions to compile.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
The realtek ethernet is not compatible with elive! I had to put a PCI ethernet card to override the builtin realtek, and now I have internet. I dont understand "reseau", is this french? clarify please.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
yes, its better to use an empty hard disk in case you have trouble. Or have Elive installed on a second HD if you have Window$.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I got my Elive back after installing a second ethernet card, that solved the internet problem. Having elive back justified opening the box. Anyway Ubuntu 7.10 (amd64) gave me big headaches (freezes, bugs, etc).by alex2035 - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
the last icon to the right of the bottom menu bar (on the live cd) runs the installer, quite easy. Just be aware that you have to manage HD formatting to make some space.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
mmm...install eterm and run e17genmenu from there.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
sorry, it should have said: e17genmenu , this is typed in a terminal and scans all your programs and adds them to a Generated Menus new item. Good Luckby alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I think there is: I have it in my menu after having typed : 17genmeu to scan the new programs installed (in a terminal) After that , under Generated Menus find System and there you can find a ADSL/PPPoe configuration entry, hopefully this will lead you in the right directionby alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I have ADSL, hadnt made anything speciall to get online. Just check Elive panel, Admin and Systems configuration, then Network Configurations. In connections your network cable should appear as Ethernet Conn 1 or Ethernet Conn 2 (i have two net adapters) , if it is deactivated just Activate it, I use DHCP (dynamic IP), thats all (unless you are connected with USB which I dont recomend due to proby alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
andyc7454, unfortunately your Realtek network card is not compatible in Elive Gem, I too had a hardware upgrade with a new Realtek onboard net card which I couldnt find Elive to recognize until I found somewhere (cant remember) that it is not compatible. I went for Ubuntu waiting for the new Elive to fix the problem. Good luck.by alex2035 - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
I confirm that RLT8111 (Realtek) is not supported in Elive, I bought a new machine with a Gigabyte RLT8111 onboard network card. Elive would not recognize it at all, had to revert to Ubuntu 7.10, to bad Hope it gets fixed...by alex2035 - Configurations and Hardware Solutions
sorry, this is bit of a late answer... I havent dropped by the forum for a while No , I probably got the answer in an Ubuntu forum about this one.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Disregard this one, I have seen a HowTo on the Forum that deals with thisby alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi everybody, have installed elive on laptop and PC, works great. Have added Jpilot for my Palm but I find I have always have to run it in a terminal or launch the run command. How do I add a menu entry?, it didnt place itself as PCMANFM for example. Better yet, how to place an icon launcher on desktop or iBar, I find this Entangle thing hermetic and strange, cant manage to use it and didnt evenby alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
What with themes, would I have to do similar? I downloaded a theme and cant make it available even when I placed it on /home/.e/e/themesby alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I tell you what I do, it works for me, but I mean it could not be a purist way, I am just "level easy" in Linux even I had been experimenting since Red Hat 6. Enter a Terminal, type "su root" , your password is asked, type it, you are root now. Type gvim , enter the editor, search for xorg.conf edit and save. Sometimes I use Midnight Commander, same thing.by alex2035 - [OLD] - Installed Mode
