The reiserFS filesystem, which elive defaults to, pretty much constantly accesses the harddrive. Granted reiserFS is superior speed-wise to ext3, but it does churn your harddrive.by xod - [OLD] - Installed Mode

Hi Gang, I'd like to pass on my experience with elive on my old laptop. Elive not only made the laptop "usable" again but it gave it a gorgeous interface that I enjoy showing off to friends. First the specs of the laptop: HP Pavilion N5450 - Pentium III 850 MHz - 128 megs RAM - 18.6 gig HDD It originally came preloaded with Windows ME (ugh). I later nuked ME and instaby xod - Off topic

Hi Gang, Just a quick note on how I was able to get my laptop's PCMCIA wifi card working (a Belkin F5D7010 with the Atheros 5005g chipset). I simply installed WICD and (I even have WPA2 encryption working). WICD's homepage - Keep up the great work on elive, it is awesome.by xod - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
