I'm giving a try to elive 2.1.57 alpha. I have to use ndiswrapper for my wireless card but I get an error message: "Error: unable to find a version of ndiswrapper!" Then I tried to use the ndiswrapper command from an old elive already installed on my box (1.9.61 I think) in order to install the .inf file corresponding to my wireless card. All seems fine: driver installed, devicby Plume - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
There is a review of Elive 2.0, including readers comments, at http://reddevil62-techhead.blogspot.com/2010/03/elive-20-topaz-gem-that-comes-at-price.html. Elive is much appreciated. The way the user has to pay to is not. It will be nice if: - Elive was free, or - the user could make a donation after the installation is successfully completed, or at least - the user was informed he has toby Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Verdegal37, You're right, trying Elive in liveCD mode is a good idea. For my own, I previously tried to launch Elive in virtual mode using qemu. But it far too long and I didn't go to the end of the process. On the other hand, I know yet Elive since it is already installed on my hardware. My goal is to upgrade or at least to repair my installation which is a bit broken now. And I'by Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I have Elive installed for a while but it became very slow since 2 mounths (see my post dated 28 january; no answer to date). That is why I was happy to download the new stable release. Well the updater failed to modify my menu.lst file. My nVidia graphic card is detected but cannot be configured with the right driver. The updater crashes each time I need to go back. And now I am obliged to payby Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I have upgraded some packages on yesterday (don't remember exactly wich ones) and since then Elive is slugish. "top" doesn't show strange process or high CPU load or any swap. Elive is just slow, very slow. Any idea?by Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Some ideas: - Type lsmod|grep nvidia to be sure that the nvidia module is loaded. If not, load it with modprobe nvidia. - Have a look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Maybe you will found some explanation of what went wrong when X was launched. - Replace Driver "nvidia" by Driver "nv" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Then type startx again. - While in live mode, have a look to the /etc/X11/xby Plume - Compiz version
frugga is right. I had the same issue. habitantedegaia, you can easily try this on the fly when the Grub splash is displayed. Just press "e" when Gem+ is highlighted, change hd0 by hd1, then "Enter" and "b". When Elive will be launched, you will be able to change the relevant entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst.by Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I installed Elive 1.9.26 above the previous installed version and it's now OK with the windows. The only issue was that the root password has been perverted. No more compiz however.by Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I don't use any more a specific mail client, I only use webmail. But I remember I had the same problem in the past with Firefox/Thunderbird. Just google "firefox mailto thunferbird" and you'll find the solution. For example, see this link , in french sorry, but understandable however?by Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I removed the nvidia driver from xorg.conf and the graphic problem with the windows has desappeared. But of course compiz can't work without 3D acceleration. Then I updated the nvidia driver from nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx-2.6.26.8-elive-686_96.43.07-2+30.Elive_i386 to nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx-2.6.26.8-elive-686_96.43.07-2+32.Elive_i386. Now I get an error message when launching X: invaliby Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I have Elive 1.9.22-4 installed on the harddisk of my desktop. Some days ago, I have updated some packages, among them enlightenment packages cvs20090325. Since then, all windows (terminal, thunar, iceweasel, everything) are completly white, including borders and buttons. What's wrong? How can I solve this problem?by Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Well, there are some other distros installed on my PC. So I tried su from Sidux ==> failed, Mandriva ==> failed, Vector Linux ==> works. I think that elive is not wrong but that there is a bug in my account. As a workaround, I moved su to su_old and I made a symlink from VL's su to elive's one.by Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Thank's for your answer. esu works from the root account, which is not very usefull, but not from other accounts.by Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi, I have just upgraded my elive installation on HDD with the new compiz version. Amazing! Just a problem: when I log in as an ordinary user, I can't su to root. No error message is returned but nothing happens. I'm sure of the root password because I can log as root. Any idea?by Plume - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Seems like my problem has desappear after installing libfam0c102 (which deinstall pcmanfm, gamin and libgamin0) and reinsatlling pcmanfm (which deinstall libfam0 and reinstall gamin and libgamin0).by Plume - Applications
pcmanfm doesn't refresh when a file is deleted. I have to change directory and go back to see that the deleted file is no more present. It seems that this behavior is related to libfam0, which comes from le libgamin0 package. Anybody knows how to solve this?by Plume - Applications
Seems like this module relies on informations given by acpi, which doesn't work on my PC. So this problem is not related to Enlightenment.by Plume - Enlightenment
Please, does anybody know how to make the temperature module work? xsensors gives the right values for CPU and M/B temperatures, but the E17 module just shows "N/A". Thank's for your help.by Plume - Enlightenment
