Hi, Anyone tried to install playonlinux on Elive? I followed the instructions fro Debian from but for some reason Elive is not allowing the Python dependencies to be installed. I want to install the Sims 3 and a few other games including NFS: Shift and Fifa 10 without going through VMware thanksby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
I just noticed a lib64 folder in the usr/ directory, does that mean elive does implement some 64bit or is it just a linux default?by leanmoha - Other Suggestions
Hey!! Just installed version elive 1.9.48...I was actually trying to get hold of 1.9.47 when I saw 1.9.48 on the server, anyhoos, I just installed it on my desktop and I though its early days, its really smooth, bootup time is very fast, granted I've got a quad-core cpu with 4gb 800mhz ddr 2, but still boot up is super fast. Secondly, I installed ecomorph-e17 (version dated 20091006) aby leanmoha - Other Suggestions

Anu you are right in a lot of cases ctrl/alt/back works fine but sometimes the system just stops all together. Well it could still be doing something in the background but nothing else works not even the keyboard. This is an issue I found with the unstable releases after elive-compiz-1.9.40 up till then there were little issues like very slow window resizing and so on with easy enough fixes but fby leanmoha - Other Suggestions
I have to agree with kaz2057, not because I think there's any performance needs for for elive for it to require 64bit and more than 4gb ram, but purely because as I said in another post, elive can not become a force if it remains in isolation. Most computers these days are 64bit ready and as the years tick along, most of the old hardware will be gone so much so that you'll be hard preby leanmoha - Other Suggestions
Hi guys, I was just wondering and I know this may be asking for too much but will PAE be added to the elive Kernel? I know you have no plans of developing a 64bit version of elive just like most other off-shoot distros but I read that even if an OS is only 32bit it can be possible to allow it to use up to 64GB of ram if PAE is compiled into the kernel. I don't know how complicated thby leanmoha - Other Suggestions
I've actually been having serious issues with the all versions after compiz-1.9.40. I'm currently running normal elive 1.9.44 with ecomorph installed on top but again much much less stable than compiz-1.9.40. In fact it hangs a lot and seems to need F1 when opening applications after login and of late required a lot of ctrl+alt+backspace. So a switch back over to ubuntu and installiby leanmoha - Compiz version
version 1.9.42 was full of bugs on my system things that worked without problems like MS software running under crossover stopped working properly. I thought maybe it was the graphics driver but i have since installed normal elive version 1.9.44 and e17-compiz on top of that and no graphics problems.by leanmoha - Compiz version

Don't know if this will work but to make the flash install system wide, download the file from the link given by stanca and as "root" extract it into the folder /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree make sure to backup the original. I'm assuming you have an older version of adobe flash installed and all the symbolic links have been setup in plug-in folders of your /usr/lib/moby leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi Does anyone know how to create icons for standalone applications like the download versions of eclipse, Vuze and HJsplit? Most of these programs tend to be java executable *.jar files. Because the my install of elive is really sensitive, I'ld rather not play around too much with the debian repos expecially when I know there are stand alone version of some of the software on there.by leanmoha - [OLD] - Installed Mode
Hi I had the same problem, but it should work out of the box with the 2.6.30.4 kernel. You don't have to install exalt and wircd as I did when I first tried to update to the new kernel. One thing I did when I installed the 1.9.40 and now 1.9.42 compiz version was to only allow the fine tuning application to run after I had installed the newer kernel and startup manager. I hear you, I'm going to start hunting on ebay for a cheap NVIDIA card with HDMI out like the 9600M on my laptop or at least equivalent to the ATI one. But you know? your computer may be old but you probably will want nothing too new just in case you get issues with the newer hardware. Hi Does anyone know how to get digital tv cards working on elive? I installed VDR from the repos but it doesn't run for some reason.by leanmoha - Hardware Howtos
Stanca, I've worked out what the issue is at least with the first box, the AMD Phenom 9850 quad-core ATI Radeon HD3200 ABIT A-S78H motherboard 4gig RAM Basically, in the BIOS options under power managment, there is an option called HPET, I have no idea what it is but it is set to enabled by default. Hey Vicophine, The Intel HDA audio issue is well documented, use the following links and I struggled with it as well till I found these links...every thing works perfectly now, well every thing except the frot mic on my laptop. The new version of alsa (1.0.21) should work without having to install hda-verb for the bass but you need to know the exact details of your device so theby leanmoha - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
Hi this is my wish list 1: One of the things I love about Elive is I can make a macOSX user wish he/she were using my OS so to even make this getting people jealous stick even more it'ld be nice to have a Quicklook type plug-in attached to Thunar. I have actually used the debian lenny 5.02 repos to update the software on my installed 1.9.40 elive-compiz . The only issue I had was with trying to install acetonISO. For whatever reason it would constantly mess up iceweasle, it may have something to do with the way the KDE libraries it requires are installed. Anyways I found a gtk version so avoid requiring the installation of Konquer or whateby leanmoha - Other Suggestions
Hi Stanca, Yeah, I know, its really odd I'm getting booting issues. I think I did install elive once on my old laptop which was an Athlon Turion. I think I'll just have to keep fiddling with the BIOS settings to try and get it to boot. I recently had getting issues booting the installed windows vista but once I reset the BIOS to its optimised default it worked again. perhaps thby leanmoha - Hardware, Wifi's and Drivers
OK so after a few hours of faffing around, I discovered that Ubuntu's problems are unique to itself and the issue I'm having getting EliveCD to bootup on the 2 AMD boxes is a completely different issue. Hi Before I start I'ld like to say what a great job everyone involved in brining this distribution and Enlightenment and Ecomorph to life are doing, I can truly say this is a dream OS. That said, I'm just wondering if AMD based machines are supported or is it just intel? I tried running the liveCD on 2 AMD based desktops and had issues booting. I was just wondering if there were any further releases of elive-compiz planned. I'm hoping my intel wifi 5100AGN will work in that since its not working in the current release and I can't get it to boot any other kernel other than the default 2.6.26.8 and I can not find any solutions that work with elive anywhere and ndiswrapper does not work with this chipset. Hi, I have elive-compiz installed on my Acer 8930G and have managed to solve all issues debian or elive specific except the wifi. Ndiswrapper does not work with the Intel 5100 wlan chips and the default kernel on elive-compiz dows not have the iwlagn module installed. However even when I try and install a new kernel elive insists on using the same 2.26.8 kernal which does not work. I have foby leanmoha - Compiz version
