What media are you writing too, And what programs are you using, Only use top grade media you get less errors, I only use verbatim DVD-RW or CD, Always use a burning program like Nero, The reason is that most burning programs in windows stay locked on your drive even when not in use so when you burn a ISO to cd or dvd the drive does not have exclusive rights to your burner this causes writ errorby mandog - [OLD] - Live mode

I think the problem is your ATAPI 24X DVD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 2048kB Cache, UDMA(33) Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 drives, Their are cheatcodes that can get around these problems try the Goblin and Slax Forums for cheat codes. Some laptops are very finicky as regard to cd/dvds I was adding software to a new Acer to-day using a microsoft disk it took 10 attempts to load and setup the same dby mandog - [OLD] - Live mode

its called gnome theme manager should have been included with gnome art, i think its called gnome control center, in synaptic, did you press download or install for your theme, as install is what opens the theme manager just a thought, if you still get problems you know where i am, i try hard to make things as simple as i can as i'm dyslexic and sometimes find things hard to follow,by mandog - Applications

i don't think they will work but Elives own certainly do i have 7 on my desktop left click on screen configaration panel scroll down modules setting d click and you will then find them. click on the ones you want click apply to each one if you want to move the and resize them right click on one cick edit. if you want them tranparent. check out custumising thunar in this section.by mandog - Applications

mepis7 has Kino 7.1.1 in its repro which is Etch like Elive and works perfect on Gem on my computer, mepis 7 repro is etch compatible, i'll leave you to work out the rest but kino 1,1,1 works on mine.by mandog - Applications

sorry its took so long to get back to you now this is not official but works for me 1st open thunar click on view location selector toolbar style that gives you the buttons.Then you need to down load gnome art with synaptics go into file system open usr, then open bin, scroll down till you find gnome art, double click when it opens click on art, scroll to desktop themes aplications wait till it dby mandog - Applications

you can change the size of the buttons click on configaration, doulbe click on font properties, tick enable font class, double click title menu, and increase font size to a larger size, this will increase the tite bar fonts and icons, and please post in the correct section in the future this is not a complaint.by mandog - Enlightenment

One possibility is your ram not to little of it the reverse although Elive does not use a lot it will still build up in the ram usually ram will store up to between 30% - &0% be fore writing to the disc, and this is normal this could be what's happening?by mandog - [OLD] - Installed Mode

I must agree this is a excellent distro today a friend popped in with a brand new Canon scanner that he can't get to work on windows so i got my xp running and waited for it to do its bit loaded all the software and tried to scan it then told me to unplug the Usb and restart the program 3 time we did this eventually after about 20 mins we did a scan. I then booted up Elive clicked on scanneby mandog - Good Experiencies

you need to totaly remove Ntf3g and then reintall you may have to alter the fstab back to the original and make sure you use the Elive Ntfs3g or you can restore elive with the disk if you do that after you need to go into file system look for a file called root and open it read the read me file and reinstall all your software. and remember the golden rule back up before you play, then all youby mandog - [OLD] - Installed Mode

well that was not really the sort of answer i was hoping to get what is the point of having to convert a mov file to edit in a editor that is supposed to support mov in the first place. version 2.02 - pre march 2.1 supported quicktime, mov, mp4, since march the sound is not supported i found a way to use v2.0 in Feisty and it works perfect. and in Elive 05 it worked perfect. i don't think deby mandog - [OLD] - Installed Mode

all i do is the same as windows press the start button that implements the shutdown process and it shutsdown without using entrance, but don't use the reset button by accident,by mandog - [OLD] - Installed Mode

i'm using Gem, i have a problem with Cinelerra 2.1 it does not import mov /MP4 files from my SD card, version 2.0 did with no problems i have a copy of Elive 0.5 Cinelerra works in that version if you do not update. This is not a problem with Elive. 2.1 is the same in every distro that i have tried I also use Feisty 7.04 with Cinelerra 2.0 and this works perfect but Ubuntu is now so far awaby mandog - [OLD] - Installed Mode
