Update...
Ok, so I don't think that it is the MacBook version or the madwifi driver... I tried GEM on my desktop PC and was unable to connect to by router via ra2500usb. The card was able to scan the networks, but unable to connect to mine. I am able to connect the router using other distros. I can't figure out why I'm having such an issue with elive...

QuoteNew versions of Elive:
A typical question is I don't want to reinstall Elive, but I want to have the latest version, is this posible to do via apt-get dist-upgrade ?
The answer is easy: Elive has many new features every time a new version is released. All these features are listed in the changelog section of the Downloads page. If you upgrade the packag

[OLD] - Installed Mode I have not tried installing more than one linux distros in a while. Back when I did, GRUB only configured the distro being installed and Windows. I had to manually add the older installation to GRUB. I don't think that anything has changed...
Even if this is required, it really is not hard to do.

Off topic I'm not possitive about this, but you probably have to add the cds to your apt/sources.list and install from there. *Someone please post back if I'm wrong!*

[OLD] - Installed Mode I just installed Elive on a Dell Inspiron 7000 PII laptop. It works fine, but during shutdown the system freezes on the "System start in progress, hold on please". Is there a file that I can check for the output?

[OLD] - Installed Mode Something that you could try, is:
From the main forum screen, select "My Control Center" -> under Options you will find "Forum Settings” (There is no "Font Selector") In the template field, select the "Phorum 5 default 0.4” -> click "Submit"
*WARNING! This may not happen for you, but when I did this everything shrunk to an unreadable size. Don&

[OLD] - Installed Mode Hi Thanatermesis, I was wondering if the madwifi/kernal(WEP) issues were addressed in the new b12 release? I'd really like to get Ubuntu off my mac.
Thanks

MacBook version My brother has an "older" dell laptop (PIII) that is simply too slow. At the moment it has Windows 2000 installed on the 8GB hd. I want to add an 8GB partition an external hd that I have and mirror the windows installation to the new partition. Then wipe the drive clean and install GEM. I want the backup incase he still doesn't like it. That way I can mirror the windows install

Off topic Not sure if this helps at all, but I had experimented with the Elive Revolution DVD that came in a Linux Pro mag(could have been Linux Format, I don't remember). Everything worked great, except for the touchpad mouse. It moved so slow that it was not usable. This may have been fixed in the newer release, but I no longer own the machine, therefore I cannot confirm this. Also, the media ho

Laptops testers I'm trying to find a forum for linux on smartphones. I just bought a T-mobile Dash (MDA) which runs Windows Mobile 6. I'd like to see if it is possible to play with linux on this device. I've googled around and haven't been able to find anything.
Also, I can't seem to find the website for Enlightenment for Embedded Devices. Does anyone have the URL?
Thanks.

Off topic There should not be any "legal" restrictions. Elive is not available for "purchase" it just requires a donation to download. If you find a BitTorrent, go for it.
**From Download page**
QuoteWhy request a donation ?
Elive is free and made with pleasure for your pleasure, but free does not mean "no cost" . I spend all my time developing Elive. It is my choic

Off topic Elive doesn't require "purchase." It does however require a donation in order to obtain the download link.
Xandros doesn't charge for the Operating System... They charge a yearly fee for the tech-support and software updates/security updates. I think it's B.S. how Xandros does it, however the thing that you need to keep in mind is that there is only one developer for

MacBook versionno boot - 16 years ago
I left my macbook on last night downloading an ISO and powered it down this morning and everything seemed normal... However, when I got to work and tried to boot up, it hangs after it leaves the lilo screen. Is there a recovery utility on the live cd? <I couldn't seem to find one> MacBooks only allow 3 partitions or OSX will not boot. Mine are hda1-OSX hda2-Elive hda3-swap(no home pa

MacBook version Streams&dragonflies,
I don't see what anyone may have or done to take you to this level of irritation, but we're all here to help each other out. Not piss each other off.
Also, if you are irritated because of lack of support, there are other distros. why not try DSL(if you prefer Debian) and add the enlightenment repos if you just like the WM?
